Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A node (e.g., a base station or network entity) may identify a signal that provides an indication of a location of a contention free random access channel (CFRA) resource within a time region and an indication of a timing pattern for the CFRA resource, the timing pattern associated with a pattern of subsequent instances of the time region in which the CFRA resource is repeated, wherein the CFRA resource is not a fully overlapping resource with respect to a contention based random access (CBRA) resource. The node may convey the signal to one or more user equipment (UE) to indicate the location and the timing pattern.
Abstract:
Wireless communications systems and methods related to performing a random access procedure are provided. A first wireless communication device receives a random access response monitoring configuration for a plurality of random access opportunities associated with a random access attempt. The first wireless communication device transmits, to a second wireless communication device, one or more random access preambles associated with the plurality of random access opportunities. The first wireless communication device monitors for a random access response for each of the one or more random access preambles based on the random access response monitoring configuration.
Abstract:
Techniques provided herein are directed toward providing a robust downlink communication frame that enables medical implants with highly inaccurate LOs to reliably provide uplink communications to an interrogator device. The downlink communication frame can include, among other things, a plurality of uplink trigger subframes that enable timing of uplink communication of the various medical implants with which the interrogator device is communicating. These uplink trigger subframes may be modulated in a special manner as to distinguish them from other subframes.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for managing access to a wireless medium by one or more stations (STAs) in a wireless network. A device determines a first transmit opportunity for a first STA of the one or more STAs in the wireless network. The device enables the first STA to access the wireless medium for a duration of the first transmit opportunity by broadcasting a first grant message to the one or more STAs in the wireless network. The first grant message indicates allocation of the first transmit opportunity to the first STA. The device may selectively adjust the duration of the first transmit opportunity based at least in part on one or more properties of the wireless network.
Abstract:
Aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in an efficient wakeup protocol for discovery between two devices. A first device configured to transmit discovery signals can wake up at a predetermined drift time, and a second device configured to receive the discovery signals can wake up at a predetermined wakeup time shortly after the predetermined drift time. The second device can remain awake for a very short duration, where the duration can be based on the packet length of the discovery signal or the interval between each transmitted discovery signal. Upon receiving a discovery signal, the second device can pair with the first device so that further communications can occur between the two devices.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for communicating in a wireless communication network are disclosed. For example, one method includes determining, by a first access point, a polling schedule for communicating with one or more wireless stations on a first wireless communication channel, the polling schedule for a second access point on a second wireless communication channel. The method further includes transmitting, by the first access point, on the first wireless communication channel, transmission information to the one or more wireless stations, wherein the transmission information comprises information for the one or more wireless stations to receive a transmission from the second access point on the second wireless communication channel. The method further includes transmitting, by the first access point, on the first wireless communication channel, one or more packets to at least one of the one or more wireless stations in accordance with the polling schedule.

Abstract:
Rate control is provided for communicating within a wireless communication network. In some examples, redundant packet information transmitted over separate links, each link having its own independent rate control loop, can result in improvement in packet reliability with fast convergence to a desired error level. In other examples, artificial degradation of a received data stream can be utilized to improve packet reliability, also with fast convergence to the desired error level.
Abstract:
Access terminals are adapted to facilitate discontinuous transmission (DTX). According to one example, an access terminal can employ a short timescale DTX mode and a long timescale DTX mode independent of one another. The access terminal can determine whether a first set of predetermined factors are present. When the first set of factors are determined to be present, the access terminal may enable a short timescale DTX mode, independent of whether a long timescale DTX mode is enabled or not. A determination may also be made whether a second set of predetermined factors are present. When the second set of predetermined factors are determined to be present, the access terminal may enable a long timescale DTX mode, independent of whether the short timescale DTX mode is enabled or not. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
