Abstract: A terminal is provided with an input unit configured to detect contact of an object and a position of the object, and a controller configured to generate a control signal corresponding to a recognition of a gesture of the object, which is detected at a position spaced apart from the input unit when touched by the object. The terminal may allow an operation command desired by the user to be completed since a gesture is initiated at a surface of the terminal, and terminated at the surface of the terminal again after being performed in a space on the surface of the terminal. By specifying a start or an end of the gesture, the intention of the user may be clearly presented and may improve the recognition rate. Therefore, the user may easily manipulate mobile phones and various equipments while driving.

Abstract: Disclosed are an ink composition including light-absorbing nanoparticles and a photonic crystal structure formed using the same. The ink composition may include inorganic particles; monomer; photoinitiator; and nanoparticles light-absorbing nanoparticles to provide the photonic crystal structure. As consequence, problems such as low color sharpness, which makes photonic crystals visible, and attaining high productivity may be eliminated. Moreover, white scattering can be reduced, and thus a distinctive color can be exhibited even when there is a difference between a reflection angle and an observation angle of light, thereby improving visibility.

Abstract: A wideband variable gain amplifier (VGA) having a low phase change is disclosed. The first VGA amplifies an input signal by a current steering manner so that an amplification gain is variable. The larger a variable gain amount of the first output signal amplified by the first VGA is, the more a relative phase change amount gradually increases in either positive direction or negative direction. The second VGA further amplifies the first amplified output signal in the current steering manner so as to vary the amplification gain. As a variable gain amount of a second output signal amplified by the second VGA becomes larger, a relative phase change amount gradually increases in a direction opposite to the phase change direction of the first VGA. This opposing phase changes of the first and second VGAs are canceled against each other to provide a variable amplification gain over the wideband frequency range with a low phase change.

Abstract: Disclosed are a deterministic quantum emitter operating at room temperature in an optical communication wavelength using the intersubband transition of a nitride-based semiconductor quantum dot, a method of fabricating the same, and an operating method thereof. A method of fabricating a quantum emitter includes forming a three-dimensional (3-D) structure in a substrate, forming an n type-doped thin film at the upper part of the 3-D structure, forming a quantum dot over the n type-doped thin film, regrowing the 3-D structure in order to use the 3-D structure as an optical structure, depositing a metal thin film at a vertex of the 3-D structure, and connecting electrodes to an n type-doped area and the metal thin film, respectively. A carrier may be captured in the quantum dot by applying a voltage to the connected electrodes. The quantum emitter may be driven by optically exciting the quantum dot.
