Abstract: A method of updating a location information, which represents a physical location of a communication device (2), is generated by a location source (1), and sent from the location source (1) via a location object generating unit (1A, 2A) and a cache unit (3A) to a location consumer (4), comprises caching a first location information (6) in the cache unit (3A), monitoring of a second location information (60) received subsequently to the first location information (6) at the location object generating unit (1A, 2A) by the location object generating unit (1A, 2A) to detect an invalid location information, and, triggered by the detection of an invalid location information (30, 50, 70), sending a location object (31, 51, 61, 71, 81) generated by the location object generating unit (1A, 2A) from the location object generating unit (1A, 2A) to the cache unit (3A), wherein the location object (31, 51, 61, 71, 81) comprises an invalidation information (85-88) indicating that a location information (6, 83) sent prior to the location object (31, 51, 61, 71, 81) is invalid such that, when the location object (31, 51, 61, 71, 81) is received at the cache unit (3A), the cached first location information (6) is discarded by the cache unit (3A).

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure belong to the data processing field and disclose a method and apparatus for data transmission. The method comprises sending a first request to a server in response to a first file locally cached having expired. The first request is for obtaining a first file in a new version, and the first request containing a first version identifier. The first version identifier being for indicating a version of the first file locally cached. Receiving a first response includes difference information and a second version identifier. The difference information makes it possible to obtain the first file in the new version based on the first file locally cached, and the second version identifier is for indicating the new version. The first file in the new version is obtained based on the difference information and the first file locally cached. Using the technical solution provided by the present embodiment(s), pressures on network transmission are reduced.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method is implemented by a server in a server cluster. A request received from a client includes a session identifier (ID) identifying a session between the client and the server, and a correlation ID that is linked to the request. If the correlation ID is not included in an individual server-specific session microcache for the session, the request is processed to determine a response, the response is added to the session microcache, and the response and an indication of the correlation ID are sent to the client. If the correlation ID and a response to the request are stored in the session microcache, the response and an indication of the correlation ID are re-sent to the client. The session ID and session microcache are transferred to another of the plurality of servers in the server cluster to continue the session.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates broadcast transmission in a distributed content delivery network. The system includes a node in the distributed content delivery network that plays a content stream received over the distributed content delivery network. The node includes a leadership-management apparatus that identifies the node as a peer leader in a local network of the distributed content delivery network. The node also includes a broadcasting apparatus. Upon identification of the node as the peer leader, the broadcasting apparatus obtains the content stream from a content source, broadcasts the content stream to other nodes in the local network, and adjusts a bit rate of the content stream based on one or more attributes associated with obtaining the content stream from the content source.

Abstract: A method for replacing, refreshing, and managing content in a communication network is provided. The method defines an object policy mechanism that applies media replacement policy rules to defined classes of stored content objects. The object policy mechanism may classify stored content objects into object groups or policy targets. The object policy mechanism may also define metric thresholds and event triggers as policy conditions. The object policy mechanism may further apply replacement policy algorithms or defined policy actions against a class of stored content objects. The media replacement policy rules are enforced at edge content storage repositories in the communication network. A computing device for carrying out the method, and a method for creating, reading, updating, and deleting policy elements and managing policy engine operations, are also provided.

Abstract: The illustrative embodiment of the present invention provides a platform that enables a content developer to distribute uniform content to multiple types of requesting mobile devices. By authoring content in a generic markup language and using the technologies included in the Mobile Content Framework (MCF), the content developer is able to provide content to multiple types devices without providing different versions of the content. The content may be authored originally in the generic markup language or translated from other languages into the generic markup language by the MCF. The MCF exploits the capabilities and accommodates the limitations of different types of wireless devices by converting generic markup language content to device-specific content. The MCF interacts with device registries holding records of the device attributes in order to provide the device-specific content. The MCF handles these issues for current mobile devices while also being extensible for future mobile devices.
