    摘要: The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of submicron-sized polymer particles and micron-sized polymer beads, wherein the polymer particles or beads or both are functionalized with phosphorus acid groups. The composition of the present invention is useful for providing a matte finish on substrates, such as leather, textiles, wallboard, decorative coatings, concrete, and wood, with improved stain resistance. The present invention also relates to a leather substrate coated with a clear matte finish comprising an acrylic or styrene-acrylic polymer film and micron-sized polymer beads, wherein the film or the beads or both are functionalized with a phosphorus acid monomer.

    摘要: The invention relates to a polyfunctional bio-based oligomer which is the reaction product of a) at least one epoxidized sucrose fatty acid ester resin; b) at least one ethylenically unsaturated acid selected from methacrylic acid, acrylic acid, crotonic acid, and mixtures thereof; c) at least one acid anhydride selected from acetic acid anhydride, acrylic acid anhydride, methacrylic acid anhydride, crotonic acid anhydride, and mixtures thereof; d) optionally, at least one catalyst; and e) optionally, at least one inhibitor. In a polyfunctional bio-based oligomer of the invention, the ratio of ethylenically unsaturated acid to acid anhydride ranges from 90:1 to 1:90; at least one epoxide group of the at least one epoxidized sucrose fatty acid ester resin is esterified by at least one ethylenically unsaturated acid; and at least one epoxide group of the at least one epoxidized sucrose fatty acid ester resin is esterified by at least one acid anhydride. Other embodiments of the invention relate to methods of making the polyfunctional bio-based oligomers of the invention and to curable coating compositions containing them.

The aqueous, substantially volatile organic compound (VOC)-free coating compositions includes an acrylic latex and a vinyl acetate-ethylene latex including from about 10 to about 90 weight percent of a vinyl acetate-ethylene polymer, based on total weight of acrylic polymer and vinyl acetate-ethylene polymer, having a Tg from about −20 to about 20 degrees Celsius; and from about 10 to about 90 weight percent of an acrylic polymer, based on the total weight of acrylic polymer and vinyl acetate-ethylene polymer, the acrylic polymer comprising, in polymerized form, at least one ethylenically unsaturated (meth)acrylic monomer and from about 0.01 to about 10 weight percent, based on total weight of the acrylic polymer, of an acetoacetate moiety containing monomer, where the acrylic polymer has a Tg of from about −20 to about 20 degrees Celsius.

    摘要: The present invention includes coating compositions and methods for coating substrates using the coating compositions. In some embodiments of the invention, a coating composition is prepared by a method including the steps of a) preparing a latex emulsion by a method including mixing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component in a carrier to form a monomer emulsion, and reacting the monomer emulsion with an initiator to form the latex emulsion, b) preparing a hydroxyl functional oil graft copolymer by a method including reacting an epoxidized vegetable oil with a hydroxyl functional material in the presence of an acid catalyst to form a hydroxyl functional oil polyol, and reacting the hydroxyl functional oil polyol with an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component in the presence of an initiator to form the hydroxyl functional oil polyol graft copolymer, and c) blending the latex emulsion and a crosslinker then adding the hydroxyl functional oil graft copolymer to form the coating composition. The coating compositions may exhibit no or minimal blush, no or minimal color pick-up, and commercially acceptable adhesion. Substrates coated with the coating compositions of the invention are also disclosed.

A highly branched lipophilic polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer A containing two or more radically polymerizable double bonds per molecule and a monomer B containing a C6-30 alkyl group or a C3-30 alicyclic group and at least one radically polymerizable double bond per molecule in the presence of 5 to 200 mol % of a polymerization initiator C relative to the number of moles of the monomer A. A photopolymeizable composition comprising the highly branched lipophilic polymer.
