摘要: Devices are provided comprising one or more insulated hollow vertical pipes inserted into a bed of soil, each pipe having a descending and an ascending conductive element forming a loop within the interior of the pipe. A plurality of such vertical pipes can be attached to a straight pipe, forming a two dimensional array of vertical pipes, in which the loops are connected in series. Further, a series of such one-dimensional straight pipes can be attached together to provide a two-dimensional array. When vertical pipes are inserted into the bed of soil and an electrical current applied to the array, one or more magnetic fields is produced within the bed and parallel to the surface of the bed. The magnetic fields so produced impede downward flow of ionic fertilizers into the ground water, and retaining the fertilizer near growing plants when the bed is irrigated.

摘要: A method for treating wastewater by using a coagulant that aggregates a phosphorus-containing substance. The method includes executing a reaction phase having a biological treatment phase and a subsequent chemical treatment phase. The chemical treatment phase includes the first substep of mixing the wastewater while injecting a predetermined dose of the coagulant into the basin in order for the coagulant to contact and coagulate the phosphorus-containing substances. The injection of the dose of the binding compound into the basin is performed during a time period equal to or more than a time period required to accomplish two mixing turnovers of the wastewater and equal to or less than a time period required to accomplish seven mixing turnovers of the wastewater. The second substep includes mixing the wastewater in order to flocculate the coagulated substance.

摘要: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for wastewater treatment, in which at least portions of the sewage sludge contained in the wastewater (0) are subjected to a hydrolysis (8). The hydrolysis (8) is carried out as a thermal hydrolysis. After the hydrolysis step (8), a drying process is (19) carried out. The drying process (19) is a process operating with positive pressure in the steam region. At least parts of the steam resulting from the drying process (19), which operates with positive pressure, are fed (20) to the portions of the sewage sludge in the thermal hydrolysis (8).

摘要: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards methods for preparing mixed-metal oxide particles by heating adamantane-intercalated layered double-hydroxide (LDH) particles at a reaction temperature of from 400° C. to 800° C. to form mixed-metal oxide particles. The adamantane-intercalated LDH particles have a general formula [M1-xAlx(OH)2](A)x.mH2O, where x is from 0.14 to 0.33, m is from 0.33 to 0.50, M is chosen from Mg, Ca, Co, Ni, Cu, or Zn, and A is adamantane carboxylate, and an aspect ratio greater than 100. The aspect ratio is defined by the width of an adamantane-intercalated LDH particle divided by the thickness of the adamantane-intercalated LDH particle. The mixed-metal oxide particles comprise a mixed-metal oxide phase containing M, Al or Fe, and carbon.

摘要: A biopellet reactor for marine aquariums. The invention is functionally dependent upon a unique fluidizing plate located between the water inlet port at the base and the media reaction chamber above. This fluidizing plate converts the upward momentum of the incoming water stream into a cyclonic flow in the reaction chamber. This cyclonic flow completely suspends and fluidizes the biopellets within the reaction chamber

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for treating wastewater to reduce or remove phosphorus. Phosphorus accumulating organisms, and optionally, carbon source is added to the wastewater process stream to increase phosphorus removal. Treated wastewater is directed to an aerobic tank, which promotes phosphorus consumption by bacteria therein. The process stream can be directly dosed with exogenous phosphorus accumulating organisms in combination with carbon source, such as directly to an anaerobic tank, or indirectly through underflow or recycle from sludge dewatering. Compositions and augmented phosphorus accumulating organisms are also provided. Pre-treatment of phosphorus accumulating organisms with a carbon source is also described, as well as stable formulations.

摘要: The present invention relates to the treatment of sludge and, more particularly, to a method for recovering phosphate as a substantially solid component from a phosphate-containing sludge. Some embodiments of the invention relate to a method for recovering phosphate as a substantially solid component and aluminum as a liquid component from a phosphate-containing and aluminum-containing sludge. The method incorporates wet oxidation to decompose the organic components of the sludge to provide a residual sludge. The residual sludge comprises the insoluble components and, in some embodiments wherein the sludge comprises aluminum, the residual sludge further comprises suspended and/or soluble aluminum.

摘要: A biofiltration system for filtering wastewater includes a tower containing a packed bed on which biofilm is able to form and an air inlet below the packed bed and an air outlet above the packed bed. A water feed above the packed bed disperses wastewater over the packed bed. The biofilm serves as a biological contact reactor removing organic and/or inorganic contaminants from the water. Following filtration of the water through the packed bed, filtered water and solid waste sloughed off from the packed bed collects in a sump below the packed bed. Water flows from a water outlet in the sump to a centrifugal separator that separates solid material from water drawn from the sump to expel a waste stream and a filtered water stream.
