Abstract: This disclosure relates to microbial technology, and more particularly to a Mortierellaalpina strain and a use thereof, a microbial oil containing ARA at an Sn-2 position, a preparation and uses thereof. Sn-2 fatty acids of the triglyceride in the microbial oil include 23% or more by weight of ARA. The microbial oil is prepared by fermentation using Mortierellaalpina strain GDMCC No. 607344.

Abstract: The present invention provides wheat grain comprising (1,3;1,4)-β-D-glucan (BG). The wheat grain is characterised by one or more of the following features; a BG content of at least 3% (w/w); the BG of the grain has a DP3/DP4 ratio between about 1.0 and about 2.0 or between about 1.0 and 2.3; and the BG is partially water soluble such that between 8.0% and about 25% or between about 10% and about 25% of the BG of the grain is water soluble. The present invention also provides uses of this grain.

Abstract: The present invention relates to natural aqueous essence compositions comprised of flavor and aroma constituents from hops. The invention also relates to methods for adding flavor and aroma to beers, ciders, meads, or other fermented beverages, as well as other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages such as seltzers, flavored waters, and teas where a hop-derived flavor and aroma is desired. The aqueous essence compositions are comprised of compounds that are naturally present in hops or in beer and/or result from processes that occur during brewing or in the aqueous processing of hop cones, hop pellets, or other solids separated from the hop plant (Humulus lupulus). The present invention also relates to the process by which aroma and flavor components are released and isolated from hops in a process that involves steam stripping, concentration, and collection of valuable aroma- and flavor-active hop constituents.

Abstract: An apparatus for cooling a food item may include a base and a top, the top and the base defining an interior chamber configured to receive the food item, and a fan coupled to the top and configurable in an operating mode and an off mode, wherein the fan moves air within the interior chamber when in the operating mode. The apparatus may include a temperature sensor to measure a temperature of the food item within the interior chamber and provide a temperature signal representative of that temperature, at least one user input allowing a user to select a cooling parameter, and a control unit adapted to receive the temperature signal and the cooling parameter, wherein the control unit is configured to switch the fan from the operating mode to the off mode when the cooling parameter has been met.
