Abstract: A video decoder may be configured to determine whether a block of video data is to be further partitioned based on the size of the block of video data and a lossless coding flag. A video decoder may decode a lossless coding flag for a block of video data, wherein the block of video data is in a picture that includes both lossy coded blocks and lossless coded blocks, determine that the lossless coding flag indicates a lossless coding mode for the block, and partition the block into sub-blocks based on a size of the block and the determination of the lossless coding mode.

Abstract: A video coder may determine reference samples based on a location of a current block of a current picture of the 360-degree video data and a packing arrangement that defines an arrangement of a plurality of regions in the current picture. The current picture is in a projected domain and each respective region of the plurality of regions is a respective face defined by a projection of 360-degree video data. The regions are arranged in the current picture according to the packing arrangement. Based on the location of the current block being at a border of the first region that is adjacent to the second region and there being a discontinuity at the border due to the packing arrangement, the reference samples are samples of the current picture that spatially neighbor the current block in a spherical domain and not in the projected domain.

Abstract: Techniques for coding data, such as, e.g., video data, include coding a first syntax element, conforming to a particular type of syntax element, of a first slice of video data, conforming to a first slice type, using an initialization value set. The techniques further include coding a second syntax element, conforming to the same type of syntax element, of a second slice of video data, conforming to a second slice type, using the same initialization value set. In this example, the first slice type may be different from the second slice type. Also in this example, at least one of the first slice type and the second slice type may be a temporally predicted slice type. For example, the at least one of the first and second slice types may be a unidirectional inter-prediction (P) slice type, or a bi-directional inter-prediction (B) slice type.

In one example, a first syntax element can control if in-picture prediction across slice boundaries for slices of a picture. If in-picture prediction across slice boundaries is enabled for the picture, then a second syntax element can control, for an individual slices, if in-picture prediction across slice boundaries is enabled for the slice.
