    摘要: A diffusion barrier film includes a layer of compositionally graded titanium nitride, having a nitrogen-rich portion and a nitrogen-poor portion. The nitrogen-rich portion has a composition of at least about 40% (atomic) N, and resides closer to the dielectric than the nitrogen-poor portion. The nitrogen-poor portion has a composition of less than about 30% (atomic) N (e.g., between about 5-30% N) and resides in contact with the metal, e.g., copper. The diffusion barrier film can also include a layer of titanium residing between the layer of dielectric and the layer of compositionally graded titanium nitride. The layer of titanium is often partially or completely converted to titanium oxide upon contact with a dielectric layer. The barrier film having a compositionally graded titanium nitride layer provides excellent diffusion barrier properties, exhibits good adhesion to copper, and reduces uncontrolled diffusion of titanium into interconnects.

    摘要: Method of preparing a biological sample appropriate for use in a subsequent in vitro nucleic acid amplification reaction. The method involves a rapid, transient exposure to alkaline conditions which can be achieved by mixing an alkaline solution with a pH-buffered solution that includes a detergent and the biological sample to be tested for the presence of particular nucleic acid species using in vitro amplification. The invented method advantageously can improve detection of some target nucleic acids without substantially compromising detectability of others. The method is particularly useful for simultaneously preparing RNA and DNA templates that can be used in multiplex amplification reactions.

    摘要: The present invention provides for a polymer composite film with a treated filler and methods for making the same. The polymer composite film includes a polymer capable of being formed into a polymeric film and a treated filler which is dispersed throughout the polymer forming the composite film. The filler is treated by techniques which exfoliate, delaminate or intercalate the filler particles into individual micro and/or nano size particulates and platelets. Ideally, the treated filler has a medium particle size ranging from about 0.1 nm-10 mm. The treated filler enhances the rigidity, barrier properties, heat deflection temperature, clarity, nucleation characteristics and fire retardant characteristics of the film. The products fabricated from the polymer composite film include sleeves, protective packaging, films, bags, liners, house-wraps, overwrap films, bubble cushion, packaging for food products, boil-in bags, heat shrinkable films, heat shrinkable bags, pouches, and thermoformed packages. The present invention also provides for methods of fabricating the polymer composite film.
