Abstract: A water softening module has a case body which includes cover members secured to their respective ends of a cylindrical case. A pair of electrodes are provided in the case body. A fibrous medium is located in contact with a water-outlet-side face of the electrodes. The fibrous medium has a stacked structure constituted of a first fiber layer and a second fiber layer, which are electrically conductive. The first fiber layer is positioned in contact with the upstream side of the second fiber layer, and the first fiber layer is positioned in contact with the downstream-side face of the electrodes. The specific surface area of the first layer is smaller than that of the second fiber layer.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a diaphragm for use in an electroacoustic transducer in a multi-layer structure which includes a first diaphragm layer of synthetic resin molded in a predetermined shape by injection molding and a second diaphragm layer layered in intimate contact on the first diaphragm layer and made of substance different from the first diaphragm layer, includes executing successively a pre-molding step and an injection-molding step, thereby providing the multi-layer structure. The pre-molding step includes attaching a non-molded sheet-like material which is a raw material of the second diaphragm layer to a mating surface of one of the die part of an injection molding die, and closing thereafter the injection molding die to give the sheet-like material a predetermined diaphragm shape. The injection molding step includes injecting synthetic resin material constituting the first diaphragm layer into the injection molding die thus closed thereby to form the first diaphragm layer.

Abstract: A light source unit including an arc tube having a light emitting section, sealed sections, an elliptic reflector, and a secondary reflecting mirror to cover the front side of the light emitting section and reflect a luminous flux radiated from the light emitting section toward the elliptic reflector. The center of discharging emission from the arc tube is disposed at a first focal position of the elliptic reflector, and the secondary reflecting mirror is configured as a separate member from the arc tube, so that the outer peripheral portion of the secondary reflecting mirror is accommodated within a circular cone connecting a second focal position of the elliptic reflector and the distal end of the front sealed section of the arc tube when being mounted to the front sealed section of the arc tube.

Abstract: Each memory block has a plurality of memory cells, and word lines and bit lines connected to the memory cells. Precharge switches connect the bit lines to a precharge line. A switch control circuit controls an operation of the precharge switches and sets a cutoff function that turns off connection switches in a standby period in which no access operation of the memory cells is performed. Since connections of the bit lines and the precharge switch and those of the bit lines and the sense amplifier are cut off in the standby period, if a short circuit failure is present between a word line and a bit line, a leak current can be prevented from flowing from the word line to a precharge voltage line and so on.

Abstract: A diagnosis supporting system acquires a reference image signal of a subject illuminated with visible light and a fluorescent image signal of the subject excited by irradiation with excitation light. The diagnosis supporting system calculates a difference between a brightness level of a pixel in the reference image signal and a brightness level of a pixel in the fluorescent image signal at the corresponding position for target pixels. An observation image signal is generated by converting the pixels in the reference image signal with differences larger than a predetermined value into red pixels. In the case a ratio of the red pixels in the observation image signal is higher than a predetermined level, more pixels become the target pixels to be processed than in the other case.
