Abstract:
The present invention is directed to HSV-1 vectors which rely on the tetracycline repressor and operator as a means for regulating expression. The vectors utilize VP-16 responsive promoters of HSV to control expression of the tetracycline repressor. The vectors are of particular interest as vehicles for recombinantly expressing genes in vivo.
Abstract:
Input devices configured to provide user interface by detecting three dimensional movement of an external object are disclosed. The input device comprises at least two photodetector pairs, a radiation source and a circuit configurable to detect differential and common mode signals generated in the photodetector pairs. By detecting the common mode and differential signals, movement of an external object may be determined and used to control a pointer, or a cursor.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a bidirectional human cytomegalovirus (hCMV) promoter that can be used to promote transcription on both strands of a double stranded DNA molecule. When used as part of a system that includes tet operator and the gene coding for the tet repressor, the promoter can be used to induce mammalian gene expression in a highly regulated way.
Abstract:
A method of manufacture of an integrated circuit packaging system includes: forming a paddle having an indented planar surface intersecting an outwardly extending planar surface at an angle of approximately 135 degrees plus 25 degrees or minus 5 degrees; mounting an integrated circuit over the paddle; and forming an encapsulation over the integrated circuit and under the extension void free.
Abstract:
A semiconductor chip package and method of making the same. A first chip unit includes a first substrate and a first IC chip electrically connected to the first substrate. A second chip unit includes a second substrate and a second IC chip electronically connected to the second substrate. An adhesive material is provided on a surface of the first IC chip and the second chip unit is mounted onto the surface of the first chip unit including the adhesive material so that at least a portion of the second structure is encapsulated by the adhesive material, thereby providing some encapsulation in the same step as mounting. The first chip unit and the second chip unit may be separated by a spacer which may also provide an electrical connection.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed oncolytic Herpes simplex-1 viruses whose replication is controlled using a tetracycline operator/repressor system. The invention also includes DNA sequences used in making the viruses and methods in which these viruses are used in the treatment of cancer patients with solid tumors.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to DNA constructs suitable for gene expression in mammalian cells and which are characterized by the presence of a mammalian promoter under the control of a tet operator/repressor system. The DNA may be used as part of a system for expressing recombinant protein. In addition, the tet operator/repressor system can be used to engineer cis- and trans-destructive viruses which are capable of replicating in the presence of the tet repressor, but not in the absence of the repressor. These viruses can be used either directly in the treatment of patients with corresponding viral diseases, as vehicles for the delivery of nucleic acids that can serve as therapeutic agents and as part of vaccines designed to immunize people or animals against viral diseases.
