Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating in a wireless network are provided. The method includes generating a wireless frame including a physical header and a media access control header. A service field in the physical header is based on the type of the media access control header. The service field may also define an error detection value. In some aspects, the service field defines one or more media access control parameters. In some aspects, the physical header includes a scrambler seed that is based on a type of the media access control header.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a relay provides relay services for network communication between a first station and a second station. In one aspect, the relay may receive data packets sent to the second station by the first station, and retransmit the data packets if it determines that the second station has not acknowledged the data packet. In one other aspect, the first station may be configured to transmit a relay-able acknowledgement that includes a sequence number identifying data being acknowledged. The relay may be configured to receive a transmission of a first relay-able acknowledgement by the first station and retransmit a second relay-able acknowledgement if it determines the second station did not receive the first relay-able acknowledgement sent by the first station. In some aspects, the second station is an access point.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of performing communication via a sub-1 gigahertz wireless network are disclosed. Values of one or more inter-frame spacing parameters for use in communication via the sub-1 gigahertz wireless network are also defined. The parameters may include a short inter-frame spacing (SIFS) time of 160 microseconds (μs). The parameters may also include a clear channel assessment (CCA) time of 40 μs. Additional parameters, such as air propagation time are also defined (e.g., for inclusion into a standard, such as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11ah).
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating frames having a plurality of types are described herein. In some aspects, the frames include a compressed frame, such as a compressed management frame or a compressed control frame. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes generating a management frame including a local identifier or a global identifier for a transmitter of the management frame based on a link type over which the management frame is transmitted, a local identifier or a global identifier for a recipient of the management frame based on the link type, a frame check sequence, and information indicating the link type. The method further includes transmitting the management frame.
Abstract:
A method includes receiving discovery messages from respective devices of an ad-hoc wireless network. The messages are received by a first device in the ad-hoc wireless network prior to a particular discovery interval. The discovery messages include information identifying the respective devices. The method further includes caching the information identifying the respective devices. During the particular discovery interval, a first discovery message is sent. The first discovery message includes a request to reserve a paging interval during the particular discovery interval. The first discovery message further includes an indication of the information.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of limiting wireless discovery range are described. A transmitting device may limit wireless discovery range by adjusting one or more transmission attributes of a discovery message, measuring inter-device distance based on range determination messages, or any combination thereof. A receiving device may limit wireless discovery range based on one or more attributes of a received discovery message, measuring inter-device distance based on range determination messages, or any combination thereof. Discovery messages may include a range adaptation bit indicating whether range adaptation is to be performed.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for discovering a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a transmitter of a station is configured to transmit a probe request. The probe request is addressed to one of a wildcard service set identifier and a service set identifier of a service set in which a relay operates. A receiver of the station is configured to receive a probe request response from the relay. The probe response comprises an identification of an access point the relay is associated with and capabilities of the relay.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for compressing block acknowledgment (ACK) frames/packets are described herein. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes generating a compressed block acknowledgment frame comprising a physical layer header, the physical layer header including at least one of the following: a block acknowledgment identifier, a starting sequence number of the compressed block acknowledgement frame, and a bitmap. The method further includes transmitting the compressed block acknowledgment frame.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for reducing collisions in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a processor is configured to decrementing a value of a counter if a channel of a wireless communications network is idle for at least an extended slot time. The processor may be further configured to generate a polling request and allow the transmission of the polling request to an access point over the wireless communications network when the value of the counter reaches a threshold value.
Abstract:
A particular method includes receiving, at an access point, one or more request messages from one or more relay nodes, each of the one or more request messages is a probe request message or an association request message related to a station. The method includes selecting a communication path between the access point and the station based on the one or more request messages and sending a response message indicating the selected communication path.
