Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for conducting the identification and quantification of micro-organisms, e.g., bacteria in biological samples. More particularly, the invention relates to a system comprising a disposable cartridge and an optical cup or cuvette having a tapered surface; an optics system including an optical reader and a thermal controller; an optical analyzer; a cooling system; and an improved spectrometer. The system may utilize the disposable cartridge in the sample processor and the optical cup or cuvette in the optical analyzer.

Abstract: A component for a storage container configured to receive vertically oriented articles. The component includes a tubular sidewall extending longitudinally from a base, and at least one spacer portion extending from an underside of the base and configured for engagement with an interior surface of a corresponding storage container. The component also includes at least one pair of retainer elements extending laterally from an inner surface of the tubular sidewall and inwardly into an interior region of the component, and with the retainer elements being oppositely oriented and configured to retain a vertically oriented article therebetween by frictional engagement with opposite longitudinal edges of the article, and wherein an insertion force for resilient deflection of the retainer elements during insertion of the article is less than a removal force for resilient deflection of the retainer elements during removal of the article.

Abstract: A freely-assembled ELISA plate is provided, including a first ELISA plate frame, a second ELISA plate frame, and ELISA plate strips located between the first ELISA plate frame and the second ELISA plate frame, collectively forming a liquid flow groove. The first ELISA plate frame is connected to a first side of the ELISA plate strips. A second side of the ELISA strips is connected to the second ELISA plate frame. The number of the ELISA plate strips in the ELISA plate can be determined according to the sample size, so that the waste of well resources of the ELISA plate can be effectively reduced; and, a desired amount of samples, washing buffer or the like can be added into the liquid flow groove once for all, so that the sample loading amount can be reduced and the detection speed can be quickened.

Abstract: A micro well plate is described for capturing and distributing single cells in individual wells is described, wherein at least one individual well is provided with a bottom plate having at least one pore to pass sample liquid, such that if one object or cell of interest is collected on the bottom plate of the well, the sample flow rate through that particular well is significantly reduced, minimizing the possibility that multiple cells or objects of interest entering the same well. The presented invention is particularly suited for obtaining single cells and/or microorganisms suspended in fluid samples for subsequent detailed interrogation.
