    摘要: Processes for the preparation and purification of hydrofluoroolefins such as tetrafluorinated propenes. A process is provided for separating a first hydrofluoroolefin from a second hydrofluoroolefin by a) providing a mixture comprising a first hydrofluoroolefin and a second hydrofluoroolefin, which first hydrofluoroolefin is preferentially more reactive with an amine than the second hydrofluoroolefin; b) adding a sufficient amount of an amine to the mixture to form a combination comprising the second hydrofluoroolefin and a reaction product of the first hydrofluoroolefin and the amine; and then c) separating the reaction product from the combination. This is particularly useful for removing 1,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene (HFO-1225ye) impurities from the hydrofluoroolefin 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf). HFO-1234yf is a refrigerant with low global warming potential.

    摘要: Soil fumigation compositions are provided herein that include methyl iodide, at least one fluorocarbon or hydrofluorocarbon, at least one surfactant, and water. The fumigant can be produced by combining the water and surfactant with an initial mixture that is an azeotropic or azeotrope-like mixture of methyl iodide and at least one fluorocarbon or hydrofluorocarbon. The fumigant compositions can be utilized in drip fumigation processes, and have increased volatility as compared to methyl iodide alone, which can reduce the risk of water contamination when utilizing methyl iodide as a fumigant.

    摘要: The present invention provides refrigerant blends which are replacements for chlorodifluoromethane(HCFC-22). The present blends have refrigeration characteristics which are similar to HCFC-22. The blends comprise from about 10 to about 90 weight percent of a first component selected from the group consisting of 1,1,1-trifluoroethane, difluoromethane, propane, and mixtures thereof; from about 1 to about 50 weight percent of a second component selected from the group consisting of hydrofluorocarbon having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, fluorocarbon having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, inorganic compound, and mixtures thereof having a boiling point at atmospheric pressure in the range from about -90 degrees C. to less than -50 degrees C.; and from about 1 to about 50 weight percent of a third component which is hydrofluorocarbon having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, other than 1,1,1-trifluoroethane, having a boiling point at atmospheric pressure in the range from about -50 degrees C. to about -10 degrees C. The refrigerant compositions have a vapor pressure substantially equal to the vapor pressure of HCFC-22.

The azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions can be used as solvents or diluents in polymerization processes, including slurry polymerization processes.
