Abstract: Various techniques for narrowband communications in a wireless communications network are provided. Narrowband communications may be transmitted using a single resource block (RB) of a number of RBs used for wideband communications. In order to provide for efficient device discovery and synchronization using narrowband communications, a synchronization signal, such as a primary synchronization signal (PSS) or secondary synchronization signal (SSS), may be transmitted within the single resource block. The synchronization signal may be transmitted, for example, using multiple orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols within the single RB. A common reference signal (CRS) may also be present in the single resource block, which may puncture the synchronization signal, in some examples. In other examples, the synchronization signal may be mapped to non-CRS symbols of the single resource block.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

A wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may monitor a search space of a control channel for at least one downlink transmission. The UE may perform a plurality of decoding operations on a plurality of decoding candidates associated with the downlink control information format transmitted in a plurality of transmission time intervals (TTIs). In some cases, the plurality of decoding operations may comprise performing a first decoding on a first decoding candidate received in a current TTI, the first decoding operation applying a first descrambling code to the first decoding candidate, and performing a second decoding operation on a combined decoding candidate that comprises soft combined information from the first and second decoding candidate, the second decoding candidate received in a prior TTI.

Abstract: Channel state information-reference signal (CSI-RS) resources are disclosed with multiple transmission configuration indication (TCI) states. Example aspects of the present disclosure provide for indications that a given CSI-RS resource is associated with multiple TCI states within various configuration control signaling, depending on whether the CSI-RS is periodic, semi-persistent, or aperiodic. Additionally, where any trigger state corresponds to a CSI-RS resource set in which one or more CSI-RS resources are associated with multiple TCI states, one or more quasi-co-location (QCL) assumptions of the downlink transmission may also be applied by a user equipment (UE) to reception of the CSI-RS resources, where the scheduling offset is less than the threshold beam switch timing reported by the UE.

Abstract: Network coding in automatic receipt request (ARQ) functionality is disclosed. A compatible transmitter configures a new transmission period, in which the set of data for transmission is transmitted, and a retransmission period, after the new transmission period, in which a number of network coded data is retransmitted based on the acknowledgement feedback received from the receivers receiving the transmitted set of data. The acknowledgement feedback identifies one or more data requested for retransmission by one or more of the receivers. The transmitter determines a number of network coded data that could be transmitted to accommodate each of the requesting receivers and the data requested by such receivers for retransmission. These network coded data would then be retransmitted by the transmitter during the retransmission period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit uplink (UL) messages in unlicensed spectrum with a reduced UL timing delay. The UL timing delay may be reduced by using a shortened transmission time interval (TTI) (e.g., a TTI that is reduced in duration relative to other TTIs in the system or in a legacy system) or by reducing the number of TTIs between a grant and the corresponding UL message. The reduced UL timing delay may decrease the likelihood that the UE will wait for a subsequent transmit opportunity (TxOp) to transmit the UL message. In some cases, the reduced UL timing delay corresponds to a reduced hybrid automatic repeat request (HARM) processing delay. In some cases, a time difference (e.g., measured in TTIs) between a measurement reference TTI a corresponding channel state information (CSI) report may also be reduced.

A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration configuring the UE with a plurality of CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) resources for channel measurement (CMRs). The method includes determining a number of occupied CSI processing units, a number of occupied active CSI resources, and/or a number of occupied active CSI-RS ports based on an actual number of CSI measurements. The method includes performing CSI measurement based on the determination.
