Abstract:
A method and apparatus for texture image compression in a 3D video coding system are disclosed. Embodiments according to the present invention derive depth information related to a depth map associated with a texture image and then process the texture image based on the depth information derived. The invention can be applied to the encoder side as well as the decoder side. The encoding order or decoding order for the depth maps and the texture images can be based on block-wise interleaving or picture-wise interleaving. One aspect of the present invent is related to partitioning of the texture image based on depth information of the depth map. Another aspect of the present invention is related to motion vector or motion vector predictor processing based on the depth information.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus of video coding are disclosed. According to one method, in the decoder side, a predefined Intra mode is assigned to a neighboring block adjacent to the current luma block when the neighboring block satisfies one or more conditions. An MPM (Most Probable Mode) list is derived based on information comprising at least one of neighboring Intra modes. A current Intra mode is derived utilizing the MPM list. The current luma block is decoded according to the current Intra mode According to another method, a predefined Intra mode is assigned to a neighboring block adjacent to the current luma block if the neighboring block is coded in BDPCM (Block-based Delta Pulse Code Modulation) mode, where the predefined Intra mode is set to horizontal mode or vertical mode depending on prediction direction used by the BDPCM mode.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for signaling or parsing constrained active entries in reference picture lists for multi-layer coding are disclosed. For the decoder side, when the current picture is a RADL (Random Access Decodable Leading) picture, reference picture list 0 or reference picture list 1 of the current picture is mandatorily required to contain no active entry corresponding to a RASL (Random Access Skipped Leading) picture with pps_mixed_nalu_types_in_pic_flag equal to 0 or a picture that precedes an associated IRAP (Intra Random Access Point) picture in decoding order, and wherein an active entry in the reference picture list 0 or the reference picture list 1 of the RADL picture can refer to a RASL picture with the pps_mixed_nalu_types_in_pic_flag equal to 1 and a referenced RASL picture either belongs to the same layer or a different layer than a layer containing the current picture which is the RADL picture.
Abstract:
A video system that applies constraints on block partitioning is provided. The system receives a partitioning control parameter from a bitstream specifying a maximum block size for enabling ternary-tree split that is constrained to be 64 or smaller. The system receives data from a bitstream for a block of pixels to be decoded as a current block of a current picture of a video. The system splits the current block into one or more partitions recursively, wherein ternary split is disallowed for a partition of the current block unless the partition is less than or equal to the maximum block size. The system reconstructs the one or more partitions of the current block.
Abstract:
Video processing methods and apparatuses in a video coding system include receiving input video data of a current block in a current picture, determining whether a transform skip mode is enabled for the current picture, signaling or parsing a syntax element associated with a size constraint for enabling the transform skip mode in a SPS referred to by the current picture when the transform skip mode is enabled, determining whether the transform skip mode is applied to the current block when the current block satisfies the size constraint, processing residues of the current block according to the transform skip mode when the transform skip mode is applied to the current block, and encoding or decoding the current block. An enabling flag is signaled in a high-level syntax set or parsed from the high-level syntax set to determine whether the transform skip mode is enabled for the current picture.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for video coding using block partition are disclosed. According to the present invention, a partition structure corresponding to recursively partitioning a current block into smaller TU (transform unit) blocks until the partition structure reaches a maximum allowed split depth or until a block size of at least one of smaller TU blocks is a supported core transform size, where the current block is partitioned into final smaller TU blocks according to the partition structure. A transform coding process is applied to the current block according to the partition structure, where the transform coding process is skipped for at least one of the final smaller TU blocks. A flag can be signalled for the current block to indicate whether the current block is allowed to skip the transform coding process for said at least one of the final smaller TU blocks.
Abstract:
Picture processing methods and apparatuses in an image or video encoding or decoding system for processing a picture partitioned into multiple non-overlapped Coding Tree Units (CTUs). Input data of a current CTU is received and split into one or more CUs. A CU entirely inside picture boundaries is split by a splitting type selected from a first set of splitting types, and a CU not entirely inside the picture boundaries is split by a splitting type selected from a second set of splitting types. The second set of splitting type comprises at least two different splitting types to provide flexibility for each out-of-bounds CU to select a splitting type. The current CTU is encoded or decoded when it is partitioned into leaf CUs for prediction and transform processing.
Abstract:
A video coder that constrains the total number of regular bins used for entropy coding syntax elements of a current block is provided. The video coder entropy encodes or decodes the syntax elements selectively as either regular bins using context modeling or as bypass bins without context modeling. A constraint is specified to limit a total number of regular bins used for entropy coding the syntax elements of the current block. There may be no constraint limiting a number of regular bins specific to an individual syntax element of the current block.
Abstract:
A method for coding the coded block flags of individual transform blocks in a video coding system is provided. The method improves coding efficiency by jointly signaling the CBF values of Cb transform blocks and Cr transform blocks from a transform unit or coding unit. A single syntax element cbf_chroma is used to jointly code the CBF values of a pair of the collocated Cb and Cr transform blocks from a transform unit.
Abstract:
A general entropy coding method for source symbols is disclosed. This method determines a prefix part and any suffix part for the current symbol. The method divides prefix of the source symbol into at least two parts by comparing a test value related to the prefix part against a threshold. If the test value is greater than or equal to the threshold, the method derives a first binary string by binarizing a first prefix part related to the prefix part using a first variable length code. If the test value related to the prefix part is less than the threshold, the method derives a second binary string by binarizing a second prefix part related to the prefix part using a second variable length code or a first fixed-length code. The method then encodes at least one of the first binary string and the second binary string using a CABAC mode.
