Abstract: Pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions and articles that include a layer of the pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions are provided. The pressure-sensitive adhesive compositions are particularly well suited for use with substrates that have been considered to have difficult to bond to surfaces such as those routinely encountered in the automotive industry. For example, the pressure-sensitive adhesive can be adhered to clear coat compositions, painted surfaces, and various polymeric materials having low energy surfaces (e.g., surfaces having a surface energy no greater than 35 dynes per centimeter).

Abstract: An adhesive article is described comprising a foamed adhesive layer and a non-foamed adhesive layer. The adhesive of each adhesive layer comprises a tetrahydrofurfuryl (meth)acrylate copolymer; an epoxy resin; a polyether polyol; and optionally a hydroxy-functional film-forming polymer. The adhesive may be used in structural and semi-structural bonding applications and is designed to fail cohesively.

Abstract: Described are adhesive compositions containing a block copolymer component that includes a midblock segment and a plurality of end block segments, each end block segment comprising polystyrene, a (meth)acrylic functional additive having a glass transition temperature of from 50° C. to 160° C., a first tackifier compatible with the midblock segment and containing a hydrocarbon, and a second tackifier compatible with the end block segments and containing a polyphenylene ether. These compositions are useful in providing pressure-sensitive adhesives that are melt processible, display a high temperature resistance, and effectively bond to low surface energy substrates.

These methods can include the steps of disposing an adhesive layer on a bonding surface of either substrate, the adhesive layer comprising a curable composition that is dimensionally stable at ambient conditions; either before or after disposing the adhesive layer on the bonding surface, irradiating the adhesive layer with ultraviolet radiation to initiate curing of the curable composition; placing one substrate so as to be bonded to the other substrate by the adhesive layer; and allowing the adhesive layer to cure.

Abstract: Provided are amorphous polyolefin compositions that can be dispensed digitally as the core in a core-sheath construction. These formulations provide dependable adhesion to both polar and non-polar surface in addition to providing a high barrier to air and moisture which is beneficial in many applications. These formulations and the method of processing these formulations provide many benefits, including low VOCs, avoiding die cutting, design flexibility, achieving intricate nonplanar bonding patterns, printing on thin and/or delicate substrates, and printing on an irregular and/or complex topography, no need for release liners or low-adhesion backsize, and no need for a post-processing step.

The thermally conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive in the core includes a (meth)acrylate-based polymeric material and thermally conductive particles. Additionally, methods of making the core-sheath filament and methods of using the core-sheath filament to print a thermally conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive are described.

Abstract: Adhesive articles are provided that can be repositioned (moved) prior to final adherence to a substrate. More specifically, the adhesive articles include a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that contains an elastomeric (meth)acrylic-based polymeric material plus crystalline material that includes a fatty amide compound on the outer surface. The presence of the crystalline material does not adversely affect the final peel adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive but allows the adhesive article to be moved or repositioned, if necessary, by lowering the tackiness of the surface.
