    Abstract: A content rendering and display system operable to display content to a viewer, the system comprising a rendering unit operable to render an image having a first resolution in a first render pass, and to generate supplementary information in additional render passes, wherein the rendered image and the supplementary information are stored in a multi-layer image structure, an upsampling unit operable to perform an upsampling process on the rendered image so as to generate an image having a portion at a second resolution higher than the first resolution, wherein the upsampling process comprises a morphological antialiasing process that uses the supplementary information as an input, and a display device operable to display the upsampled image, wherein the supplementary information comprises edge information for the rendered image.

    Abstract: A data processing apparatus adapted to generate a recording for a content includes: input circuitry configured to obtain image data and corresponding audio data for the content, the image data including a plurality of image frames, a plurality of machine learning models including one or more first machine learning models and one or more second machine learning models, each first machine learning model configured to obtain at least a part of the image data and trained to output respective indicator data for the plurality of image frames, each second machine learning model configured to obtain at least a part of the audio data and trained to output respective indicator data for the plurality of image frames corresponding to the at least part of the audio data, where the respective indicator data associated with an image frame is indicative of an interest score for the image frame, authoring circuitry configured to select one or more groups of image frames from the plurality of image frames in dependence upon respective indicator data associated with the plurality of image frames, and recording circuitry configured to generate the recording for the content, the recording including one or more of the selected groups of image frames.

    Abstract: A distance information generation apparatus obtains a measurement depth image that expresses a measurement result for a distance to an object and a color image captured at a corresponding field of view. The measurement depth image is upsampled by a predetermined technique to generate a candidate depth image. On the basis of a result of analyzing the color image, a reflection characteristic for the object, and information regarding a relative motion between an image capturing apparatus and the object, a reliability image, in which a reliability for a distance value expressed by the candidate depth image is set for each pixel, is generated. A distance value having a high reliability is read out for each pixel from the candidate depth image, whereby an output depth image is generated.

    Abstract: An audio personalisation method for a user includes: testing the user with an audio test, the audio test comprising: moving a portable device, comprising a position tracking mechanism and a speaker, to a plurality of predetermined test positions relative to the user's head; when within a threshold distance of a predetermined test position, playing a test sound through the speaker of the portable device; and detecting the test sound using a microphone proximate to each of the user's ears, and associating resulting measurement data with the predetermined test position, where the resulting measurement data derived from the detected test sounds is characteristic of the user's head morphology; for a corpus of reference individuals for whom respective HRTFs have been generated, comparing the measurement data from the user's audio test or a head-related transfer function ‘HRTF’ derived from this measurement data with corresponding measurement data of some or all respective reference individuals in the corpus or HRTFs of some or all respective reference individuals in the corpus; identifying a reference individual whose measurement data or HRTF best matches the measurement data or HRTF from the user's audio test; and using the HRTF of the identified reference individual for the user.
