Abstract: In order to overcome the issue caused by a decoded block vector (BV) pointing to a reference block overlapping with an unavailable area, various methods are disclosed. According to one method, if the reference block overlaps with an unavailable area, the reference pixels in the unavailable area are generated for IntraBC prediction of the current block by padding from neighboring available pixels. The padding can be done in the horizontal direction and then the vertical direction. The padding may also done in the vertical direction first and then horizontal direction. In another method, if the reference block overlaps with an unavailable area, the reference pixels in the unavailable area are generated for IntraBC prediction of the current block by using previous decoded pixels in the unavailable area. A pre-defined value may also be used for the unavailable area.

Abstract: A system and method of content adaptive pixel intensity processing are described. The method includes receiving a predefined set of processed video data configured from the processed video data, deriving a range information associated with an original maximum value and an original minimum value for a predefined set of original video data, wherein the predefined set of processed video data is derived from the predefined set of original video data, and adaptively clipping pixel intensity of the predefined set of processed video data to a range deriving from the range information, wherein the range information is incorporated in a bitstream and represented in a form of the original maximum value and the original minimum value, prediction values associated with a reference maximum value and a reference minimum value, or a range index associated with a predefined range set.

Abstract: In one implementation, a method operates by receiving neighboring reconstructed first-color pixels and current reconstructed first-color pixels of a current first-color block and receiving neighboring reconstructed second-color pixels of a current second-color block collocated with the current first-color block. The method then determines linear model (LM) parameters according to a linear model for one or more LM Intra modes. The method then receives input data associated with current second-color pixels of the current second-color block and generates a cross-color Intra predictor from the current reconstructed first-color pixels of the current first-color block using the LM parameters associated with a LM Intra mode selected from said one or more LM Intra modes. Finally, the method applies cross-color Intra prediction encoding or decoding to the current second-color pixels of the current second-color block using the cross-color Intra predictor for the selected LM Intra mode.

Abstract: A method of adaptive loop filtering with implicit sample-based On/Off control for reconstructed video to improve the performance is disclosed. In one embodiment, each pixel of the video data associated with the reconstructed current image unit is classified into a first group and a second group. Adaptive Loop Filter (ALF) is then applied to these pixels belonging to the first group. For pixels in the second group, ALF is not applied. The image unit may correspond to one coding tree block (CTB) or one coding tree unit (CTU). Various classification means for classifying each pixel into a first group or a second group have also been disclosed. The adaptive loop filtering with implicit sample-based On/Off control may also be used as an additional mode in a system supporting block-based On/Off control.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a video coding method for processing a current prediction unit (PU) with a sub-PU temporal motion vector prediction (TMVP) mode. The method can include receiving the current PU including sub-PUs, determining an initial motion vector that is a motion vector of a spatial neighboring block of the current PU, performing a searching process to search for a main collocated picture in a sequence of reference pictures of the current PU based on the initial motion vector, and obtaining collocated motion information in the main collocated picture for the sub-PUs of the current PU. The searching process can include turning on motion vector scaling operation for searching a subset of the sequence of reference pictures, and turning off the motion vector scaling operation for searching the other reference pictures in the sequence of reference pictures.

Abstract: Methods of adaptive transform type based on transform unit (TU) size for enhancement layer (EL) coding and multiple motion candidates for EL coding based on corresponding base layer (BL) video data are provided. One method selects a transform type from multiple allowable transform types based on the TU size and applies the selected transform type to the transform units of the inter-layer prediction processed data. Another method derives multiple motion candidates for the EL video data coded in Merge mode or Inter mode based on motion information associated with the corresponding BL video data.

The bitstream may include information indicating coding unit (CU) information inheritance that is used by a decoder in conjunction with quad-tree (QT) partition and binary-tree (BT) partition to achieve asymmetric or triple-tree (TT) partition of a CU.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for sample adaptive offset (SAO) compensation of reconstructed video data are disclosed. In one embodiment, the relation between the current pixel and said one or more neighboring pixels is stored so that the SAO compensated current pixel can replace the current pixel without buffering the to-be-processed pixels for classification. The SAO process may be performed on a region by region basis to adapt to the local characteristics of the picture.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing of coded video using adaptive offset (AO) are disclosed. Embodiments of the present invention divide reconstructed video data into multiple filter units and apply adaptive offset to the filter units to generate filtered video data, where boundaries of filter units correspond to boundaries of coding units and each filter unit contains at one or more coding units. Furthermore, two or more of the multiple filter units can be merged as indicated by a merge index to share filter information of the adaptive offset. A filter control flag can be used to indicate filter ON/OFF control. The luma and chroma components may also share the same filter information. In another embodiment, the filter information sharing among filter units can be applied regardless of whether the boundaries of the filter units are aligned with the boundaries of the coding units.
