Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of decoding implemented by a decoding device, comprising: obtaining a value of a reference line index for a current block; constructing a most probable mode, MPM, list for the current block; obtaining a value of intra-prediction mode index for the current block; when the value of the reference line index is not equal to 0, obtaining an intra prediction mode of the current block according to the MPM list for the current block and the value of the intra-prediction mode index for the current block, wherein the value of the intra-prediction mode index indicates a position that corresponds to the intra prediction mode of the current block among angular intra-prediction modes in the MPM list. The disclosure also relates to a coding apparatus and a non-transitory machine-readable medium.

Abstract: A mechanism for position dependent spatial varying transform (SVT) for video coding. A prediction block and a corresponding transformed residual block are received at a decoder. A type of spatial varying transform (SVT) employed to generate the transformed residual block is determined. A position of the SVT relative to the transformed residual block is also determined. An inverse of the SVT is applied to the transformed residual block to reconstruct a reconstructed residual block. The reconstructed residual block is then combined with the prediction block to reconstruct an image block.

Abstract: A filter for video coding is provided, where the filter is configured for processing a block for generation of a filtered block, and the block comprises a plurality of pixels. The filter includes one or more processor configured to: scan, according to a predefined scan template, to obtain a current pixel of the block and its neighboring pixels of the current pixel; obtain spectrum components by performing transform for the current pixel and its neighboring pixels; obtain filtered spectrum components based on a filtering parameter and the spectrum components; obtain filtered pixels by performing inverse transform for the filtered spectrum components; and generate a filtered block based on the filtered pixels. The filter is provided allowing improving the efficiency for video coding.

Abstract: A video coding mechanism for viewpoint dependent video coding is disclosed. The mechanism includes mapping a spherical video sequence into a plurality of sub-picture video sequences. The mechanism further includes encoding the plurality of sub-picture video sequences as sub-picture bitstreams to support merging of the plurality of sub-picture bitstreams, the encoding ensuring that each sub-picture bitstream is self-referenced and two or more of the sub-picture bitstreams can be merged to generate a single video bitstream using a lightweight bitstream rewriting process that does not involve changing of any block-level coding results. A mergable indication is encoded to indicate that the sub-picture bitstream containing the indication is compatible with a multi-bitstream merge function for reconstruction of the spherical video sequence. A set of the sub-picture bitstreams and the mergable indication are transmitted toward the decoder to support decoding and displaying a virtual reality video viewport.

Abstract: An apparatus and method determining a motion vector for a block, which relates to motion vector determination employing template matching or bilateral matching, are provided. At first, candidate motion vectors are obtained and are mapped to respective representatives (representative motion vectors). In particular, if the obtained candidate motion vectors point to fractional positions and thus, interpolation from the integer sample positions is required, the initial motion vector is rounded to a closest integer sample position. The rounded position is then used to define the search space for the template or bilateral matching to determine the best matching motion vector for the block (in other words, a refinement of an initial motion vector around which the candidate space is spanned). Finally, the mapping operation can be reverted in order to obtain a result in the original search space.
