Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for identification, on a per-PLMN basis of a type of core network associated with each PLMN in a list of networks associated with a base station. A user equipment (UE) may receive the list of networks and, based at least in part on the type(s) of core network accessible via each PLMN and a capability of the UE, initiate a connection establishment with a PLMN and associated core network. In some cases, UEs that are not capable of connections with a first type of core network (e.g., a 5G core network) may be restricted from camping on a cell or PLMN that may provide only connections with the first type of core network (e.g., a 4G core network).

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for delivering content to end user via shared broadcast are provided. The apparatus may be a UE that determines to acquire a MBMS service. The UE tunes to a frequency provided by a first MNO to which the UE is not a subscriber in order to receive the MBMS service via a carrier shared by the first MNO and at least one other MNO. The UE receives the MBMS service on the frequency via the carrier shared by the first MNO and the at least one other MNO. The shared carrier may have a common SFN timing with respect to the first MNO and the at least one other MNO. The shared carrier may include a shared MBMS SDL carrier. The shared carrier may include a standalone shared carrier for receiving the MBMS service and control information associated with the MBMS service.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless communications system may support techniques for efficient communication between a user equipment (UE) and different entities (or functions) of a core network. Specifically, the UE may interact with a single entity (or function) of a core network (e.g., an access and mobility management function (AMF)), and messages intended for other entities (or functions) may be routed appropriately by this entity. For example, an AMF may receive a message from a UE intended for another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the entity (or function). Similarly, the AMF may receive a message from another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the UE.

Abstract: Techniques are described for configuring wireless service for a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communications network in which the UE may be served over one or more of multiple available cells. Wireless service for the UE may be configured based on parameters associated with each of the multiple cells, such as, for example, a primary/secondary cell designation of a cell, whether the cell operates using a licensed or an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, a radio access technology associated with a cell, and/or an operating frequency band of a cell. Based on the parameters for each cell, one or more cell configurations for serving the UE may be provided. The cell configurations may identify, for example, a set of rules that control how much and/or what type of traffic is sent on different cells.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may establish a dynamic coverage enhancement (CE) configuration and then autonomously transition from one CE level to another while in idle mode. The network may blindly detect the CE change during a paging procedure. For example, a mobility management entity (MME) may store dynamic CE information, and it may provide the dynamic CE information to base stations when the UE is paged. In some cases, the base stations may autonomously retransmit paging messages at different CE levels based on the dynamic CE information. In other examples, the MME may direct the base station to retransmit at different CE levels.

Abstract: Various features pertain to the authentication of mobile devices or other User Equipment. In some aspects, a Retail-based Neutral Host LTE is provided for use with Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks that, among other features, provides a WiFi Alliance HotSpot 2.0 (HS2.0) user experience using LTE technology for non-mobile network operator (non-MNO) Service Providers (SPs), while maintaining high security assurances as with LTE. That is, in some examples, Retail Neutral Host-LTE is configured to provide the same or similar security assurances as with MNO-based LTE. Moreover, retail Neutral Host-LTE offers options for provisioning credentials and authentication with the AAA that are analogous to the options for HS2.0, that is: username/password, SP-issued certificate, and pre-configured mobile device certificate. This is achieved, at least in part, while providing or ensuring that Retail Neutral Host-LTE security provides similar security assurances to MNO-based LTE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may attempt to access a network at a local area network access point without prior context information. The access point may be a hotspot operating in unlicensed spectrum according to a Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based standard. The UE may be unable to determine if it is authorized to access the network, so the UE may attempt to obtain system information that provides a list of service providers supported by the network. The UE may then determine whether it has credentials for a supported service provider, and the UE may access the network using those credentials when a supported service provider is recognized. Other broadcast messages may provide information about system information for supported service providers. A UE that is unable to access the network using stored credentials may attempt access using a random access channel procedure.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a control signal from a base station on resources of a first narrowband region. The UE may then identify a second narrowband region based on the control signal. In some cases a broadband carrier may be divided into an indexed set of narrowband regions, and the UE may identify an index using information contained in (implicitly or explicitly) in the control signal. The UE may communicate with the base station on resources of the second narrowband region. For example, a UE may receive a system information block (SIB) or a paging message, and perform a random access procedure using narrowband resources selected based on the SIB or paging message.

Abstract: An indication is used to control how message service information is routed over different domains. For example, an access terminal may be configured with an indication that indicates that a message service is preferred to be invoked over an IP domain or that the message service is not be invoked over the IP domain. The access terminal then delivers message service information based on the value of the indication. In some cases, a network entity generates the indication and sends the indication to the access terminal. In some cases, a domain for delivery of message service information is selected based on a domain that was selected for particular type of traffic.
