Abstract:
A system for automated monitoring of pest insects in stored products to help identify insect species and improve reliability across adverse external conditions, including environmental, biological and aging. The system includes sensor units having a microcontroller which collects, analyzes, and stores data from at least one signal pulse created by an insect falling through the sensor unit.
Abstract:
A method of testing resistance bolometer arrays involves applying different voltages to different bolometers so as to produce a detectable difference between adjacent bolometers under normal conditions. The voltages may be applied in a recognisable pattern so that faults can be readily identified from a visual display of the array.
Abstract:
Described is a manner of determining the three-dimensional direction of a radiating source. The system uses two pairs of coplanar solid-state radiation detectors perpendicularly arranged. The three-dimensional direction of the radiating source is found through the use of suitably positioned walls or absorbers of the radiation. The lengths of the shadows cast by the walls leads to a change in incident radiation detected by the various detectors. A ratio of the detected incident radiation is uniquely and simply related to the angle of the source in three dimensions. When the three-dimensional direction of the object is determined from two points, the distance to the object from each of the points is calculated using triangulation. A glove having one or more LEDs, uses the system to detect the three-dimensional position of each LED, and the three-dimensional positions of the LEDs are used to determine yaw, pitch and roll.

Disclosed is a temperature sensing device and system including a processor, a memory, and optics for collecting incident infrared energy to produce a temperature signal. The device and system function in accordance with a disclosed method to derive one or more signal parameters from the infrared energy, such as signal strength and signal dilution, and compare the parameter(s) with acceptable, pre-defined limits. A filtered or unfiltered temperature indication is provided if all parameters lies within pre-defined limits, and a different temperature indication is displayed if one or more parameters exceeds pre-defined limits.

An ear type thermometer for metering a body temperature includes a thermometer body, and a probe mounted in the thermometer body and adapted to be inserted into an ear. The probe is provided with a probe cover. A screwing member is provide for fixing the probe cover on the probe.
Abstract:
A flame detection apparatus has a focused array based sensor which is responsive to radiation having a predefined wavelength for generating an image of the infrared radiation emitted within a monitored region, and means for measuring the spectral ratio of the intensity of radiation having a first wavelength emitted within the monitored region to the intensity of radiation having a second wavelength emitted within the monitored region. Processing means analyses the output of the focused array based sensor and the spectral ration measuring means for responses indicative of the presence of a flame within the monitored region.
Abstract:
An apparatus for detecting a gas having distinct infrared radiation absorption characteristics. The apparatus includes a spectral source/bolometer for conducting an electrical current and for producing an infrared radiation. The source/bolometer is disposed along an axis and has a temperature and a characteristic resistance, and the characteristic resistance is a predetermined function of the temperature. A return reflector is disposed along the axis beyond the gas such that at least a portion of the infrared radiation passing through the gas is reflected back through the gas to the source/bolometer. The apparatus also includes a driver/detector for driving a current through the source/bolometer, for determining the characteristic resistance, and for detecting the gas from a variation of the characteristic resistance.

The present invention is a device for detecting modulated or active infrared light comprises a photodiode mounted on the base aperture of a wave guide for focusing infrared light onto the photodiode. The wave guide is preferably pyramid shaped and has a reflective surface on the inner surface. The apex of the wave guide comprises an acute angle from about 5 degrees to about 10 degrees. Units to process the signal and amplify the signal are attached thereto. The device may also include a Fresnel lens and a means to adjust the voltage of the active infrared signal processing means to improve detection capabilities.
Abstract:
A method and system are disclosed for imaging a planetary surface region of interest (ROI). In a primary application, a plurality of space vehicles having antennas mounted thereupon are utilized to collect thermal radiation emitted from the ROI and generate corresponding thermal emission signals. Such thermal emission signals may be combined to yield one or more simple interferometric fringes. The simple fringes may be employed to yield a pixel image of the ROI. In one aspect, one or more simple interferometric fringes may be utilized to generate one or more compound interferometric fringes for use in formation of the pixel image. One or more compound fringes may be utilized to generate additional levels of compound fringes for use in formation of the pixel image. In another aspect, the space vehicles may be positioned in a nullnear-fieldnull imaging arrangement relative to the ROI and a matched filtering approach may be utilized for extracting amplitude data from the interferometric fringe(s) on a basis for use in pixel image formation.
