    摘要: A methodology and concomitant system for the reconstruction of an object from measurements of the transmitted intensity of scattered radiation effected by irradiating the object with a source of radiation. The measurements of the transmitted intensity are both spatially sampled and limited. The transmitted intensity is related to either the absorption coefficient or diffusion coefficient, or both, of the object by an integral operator. The image is directly reconstructed by executing a prescribed mathematical algorithm, as determined with reference to the integral operator, on the transmitted intensity of the scattered radiation. In a preferred embodiment, the data is measured using a paraxial arrangement composed on a single source and a small number of on-axis and off-axis detectors with the arrangement being moved over the measurement surface to measure the set of sampled and limited data.

    摘要: A system and method for THz imaging utilizing a single THz detector that detects an image of a large area and provides good spatial details (high resolution). In one aspect, the system can individually modulate a different pixel of an image. The system could be a series of masks. Each mask may include holes that may be turned on/off with a distinct pattern from all of the other holes. Once the data for each mask has been received, the data for each hole may be extracted according to its modulation pattern. Another modulation system may include a micro-mirror array that deflects the THz signal towards or away from the THz detector.

The infrared identification system includes a seed introduction system, in each friendly vehicle, that introduces trace quantities of a particular seed formulation into the vehicle's exhaust. An infrared detection system, also in each friendly vehicle, detects the spectrally-discrete thermal emissions of the seed formulation to identify those vehicles having the thermal emissions as friendly. According to one aspect of the present invention, near-infrared analytical radiation is generally directed onto a portion of a specimen containing the analyte of interest. A wavelength of the analytical radiation is scanned over the specimen over a broad range of frequencies and over a short duration of diagnostic time. A spectrum of radiation is transmitted through, reflected from or scattered from the specimen and collected by a detector. The concentration of the analyte of interest in the specimen is determined by the radiation collected by the detector.

The apparatus includes an IR-transparent internal-reflectance-element (IRE) that has at least one essentially flat surface and at least one convex surface, and at least two IR light paths of uniquely determined central-frequency and bandwidth with light from a source entering a flat surface of the IRE, internally reflecting at least once from at least one convex surface of the IRE that can contact a fluid, exiting a flat surface of the IRE, and being received at a detector. The apparatus also includes electronics to power the source and receive output from the detector of each light path. The apparatus can be controlled to independently monitor the IR light reflected within the IRE at the uniquely determined frequency of each path, and to communicate information relevant to the IR light detected.

    摘要: A method is described for providing rapid on-line analyses of chemical compositions such as chemical process streams, utilizing near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy in combination with chemometrics. In the method, for each type of analysis to be conducted, a database is provided by analyzing a series of samples using standard laboratory analytical procedures, utilizing the results as reference values to establish quantitative calibration models from NIR spectroscopy using chemometric techniques and storing this information in a computer database. An NIR spectroscopic system is also provided comprising a transflectance or a transmittance probe coupled via fiber-optic cables to a stable white light source and a spectrograph. The probe is inserted into a test sample or chemical process stream to be analyzed, a stable white light of selected wavelength range is beamed to the probe and the spectra obtained on the spectrograph are recorded. Finally the spectra obtained are correlated to the reference data stored in the computer to obtain a rapid measurement of the analysis desired.
