    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for configuring discontinuous reception on a sidelink connection between a remote user equipment (UE) and a relay UE. An example method generally includes determining a configuration for sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) communications between the relay UE and a first remote UE, the configuration including a transmission configuration for communications from the relay UE to the first remote UE and a reception configuration for communications from the first remote UE to the relay UE; transmitting, to the first remote UE, a configuration message indicating the configuration for sidelink DRX communications between the relay UE and the first remote UE; and communicating with the first remote UE via a sidelink channel based on the configuration.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling indicating a co-channel configuration. The co-channel configuration may indicate a set of sidelink parameters for a co-channel operation associated with dynamically utilizing sidelink radio frequency resources allocated for a first radio access technology and sidelink radio frequency resources allocated for a second radio access technology. The UE may transmit, based on the received co-channel configuration, an indication of a set of channel availability parameter values indicating an amount of available sidelink radio frequency resources associated with the first radio access technology, the second radio access technology, or both. Subsequently, the UE may receive a grant scheduling a set of sidelink resources for the wireless communication associated with the second radio access technology based on the transmitted indication of the set of channel availability parameter values for the co-channel operation.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a wireless communications system, one or more user equipments (UEs) may implement distance-limited sidelink-based ranging techniques. An initiating UE may transmit one or more positioning reference signal (PRS) request messages to one or more target UEs via a sidelink channel. In some cases, the initiating UE may receive one or more response messages from at least one target UE that is located within a threshold distance from the initiating UE. In some examples, based on receiving the one or more response messages, the initiating UE may transmit PRSs to each target UE that transmitted a response message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may receive a message indicating a configuration for a first active duration for the first UE, the first active duration being for a reversed communication direction during an active duration of a first discontinuous cycle for sidelink communications. The first UE may transmit a sidelink signal to the second UE, and may activate the first time active duration during the active duration of the first discontinuous cycle. Upon activating the first active duration, the first UE may switch from a transmission mode to a reception mode, and may receive a sidelink response message from the second UE during the first active duration. Based on receiving the sidelink response message, the first UE may switch back to the transmission mode to the reception mode during the first active duration, and may terminate the first active duration.

    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may experience poor communication with a network access device, and the network access device may configure the UE to connect to, and route communications through, one or more relay nodes (e.g., which may be another UE, a network operator-deployed relay, etc.). Techniques are described whereby these relay nodes may autonomously form a wireless backhaul network. Sequential implementations are considered such that the size of the wireless backhaul network may scale efficiently. In some examples, the wireless backhaul network may form by reusing existing connectivity establishment procedures. Importantly, the proposed techniques enable a relay to possess (e.g., be configured with) functionality that may traditionally be associated with a UE, base station, and gateway. Such multi-faceted functionality may enable the described sequential formation of wireless backhaul networks with tree topology.
