摘要: An optical information recording medium 10 comprises a plurality of recording layers 14, and intermediate layers 15 each provided between the recording layers 14. Each of the recording layers 14 includes polymer binder and dye dispersed in the polymer binder, and the dye is subject to multi-photon absorption of a recording beam RB having a predetermined wavelength and to linear absorption not smaller than 1.5% per recording layer at the predetermined wavelength of the recording beam. When the dye is irradiated with the recording beam and generates heat by linear absorption and multi-photon absorption of the recoding beam RB, the polymer binder undergoes a change of shape by the generated heat, whereby an interface between the recording layer 14 and the intermediate layer undergoes a change of shape to record information.

摘要: An optical information recording medium 10 includes a plurality of recording layers 14, and intermediate layers 15 each provided between the recording layers 14. The optical information recording medium 10 is configured such that first and second intermediate layers 15A, 15B having different refractive indices are arranged alternately with one recording layer 14 interposed therebetween, that ((n3−n1)/(n3+n1))2≦0.001 is satisfied, where n1 represents a refractive index of the recording layer 14, and n3 represents a refractive index of the second intermediate layer 15B, and that when a recording layer 14 is irradiated with a recording beam RB and generates heat by absorption of the recording beam RB, an interface (reflection interface 18A) between the recording layer 14 and the first intermediate layer 15A adjacent to this recording layer 14 undergoes a change of shape to record information (recording spot M).

摘要: In an optical disc including a discoid optical-disc substrate and a coating film formed on the optical-disc substrate, the optical-disc substrate includes a first region including the innermost periphery thereof and having a projection formed on the whole of the first region, and a second region located outside of the first region. The coating layer is formed on the second region. Before the coating film is formed, the thickness of the optical-disc substrate at the first region is greater than the thickness of the optical-disc substrate at the second region. After the coating film is formed, the total thickness of the optical-disc substrate at the second region and the coating film is greater than the thickness of the optical-disc substrate at the first region.

摘要: A description is given of a multi-stack optical data storage medium (20) for rewritable recording using a focused radiation beam (30) entering through an entrance face (16) of the medium (20) during recording. The medium (20) has a substrate (1). Deposited on a side thereof is a first recording stack (2) with a phase-change type recording layer (6). The first recording stack (2) is present at a position most remote from the entrance face (16). At least one further recording stack (3), with a phase-change type recording layer (12) is present closer to the entrance face (16) than the first recording stack (2). A metal reflective layer of Cu, transparent for the radiation beam (30), is present in the further recording stack (3) and has a thickness between 2 and 10 nm. A transparent spacer layer (9) is present between the recording stacks (2, 3). In such a way a metal reflective layer (14) with a high optical transmission combined with sufficient heat sink action is achieved which furthermore has a low chemical reactivity with adjacent layers.
