    Abstract: A brake device for braking a wheel includes a brake drum, a brake pad carrier which is arranged or can be arranged in the brake drum and has at least one brake pad, and an actuator apparatus for the reversible transfer of the brake pad carrier between a braking state, in which the brake pad is operatively connected to the brake drum, and a freewheeling state, in which the operative connection between the brake pad and the brake drum is canceled, the brake pad carrier being elastically deformable for the transfer from the freewheeling state into the braking state.

    Abstract: A brake caliper (100) with first and second parts (104a, 104b) between which is received a pair of braking members (102a, 102b). The caliper (100) includes a service brake mechanism having at least two piston and cylinder assemblies (108a, 110a and 108b, 110b) forming an opposed piston mechanism for forcing each of the braking members (102a, 102b) towards a brake disc to apply a service braking force thereto. The caliper (100) also includes a park brake mechanism including an actuator mechanism (112) for applying a driving force to a first opposed braking member (102a) towards the brake disc and a force transmitting member (116) for transmitting the driving force to a second opposed braking member (102b). The force transmitting member (116) is supported by a sliding connection between the force transmitting member (116) and an outer surface of a first cylinder (110a) and a slidable connection between the force transmitting member (116) and a connecting member that spans the first and second parts of the brake caliper (100).

    Abstract: A braking system is provided. The braking system may comprise a brake stack and an electromechanical actuator mechanically coupled to the brake stack. A first hydraulic chamber may also be mechanically coupled to the brake stack and in fluid communication with a first piston of the electromechanical actuator. A second piston may be in fluid communication with the first hydraulic chamber. The second piston may also be configured to translate towards the brake stack in response to a translation of the first piston.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an improved plunger assembly for a vehicle brake system. The plunger assembly is operable as a pressure source to control brake fluid pressure supplied to one or more wheel brakes. The plunger assembly comprises a housing defining a cylinder; a reversible motor supported by the housing and having a rotor; and a linear actuator such as a ball screw/nut mechanism driven by the motor. A plunger head is mounted in the cylinder and driven by the linear actuator in first and second opposite directions. Improvements include the plunger assembly engage at least one seal that defines a portion of a pressurized chamber. An end cap covers the projecting end of the cylinder and is secured to the housing to define a fluid passageway between the end of the cylinder and at least one fluid passageway provided in the housing block.

    Abstract: Low speed and high speed estimates of rotor angle and speed relative to the stator are received from a low speed estimator and a high speed estimator, respectively. LS_θ_EST and a subset of torque-controlling I_Q trajectory curve (“IQTC”) parameter values appropriate to low speed rotor operation are selected for rotor speeds below a low speed threshold value ω_LOW_THRS. HS_θ_EST and a subset of IQTC curve parameter values appropriate to high speed rotor operation are selected for rotor speeds above a high speed threshold value ω_HIGH_THRS. LS_θ_EST and the low speed subset of IQTC parameter values remain selected for rotor speeds less than ω_HIGH_THRS after accelerating to a rotor speed greater than ω_LOW_THRS. HS_θ_EST and the subset of high speed IQTC parameter values remain selected for rotor speeds greater than ω_LOW_THRS after decelerating to a rotor speed less than ω_HIGH_THRS.

    Abstract: A vehicle disk brake has a brake-application device providing a braking force and has a force element and a pressure-boosting lever arrangement. A readjustment device for compensatory readjustment of the wear-induced air clearance of the brake is provided that has a rotatably arranged drive element to be actuated by the brake-application device, a readjustment element arranged rotatably on the same axis, and a transmission device arranged in the movement path between drive element and readjustment element. To provide a readjustment device of a structurally simple design with a small number of parts, the transmission device is in the form of a helical wrap spring which is radially supported at the inner side along a first helix section relative to the drive element and is radially supported at the outer side along a second helix section relative to the readjustment element.

    Abstract: An electric parking brake includes a driving shaft, an actuator, first and second braking members, and first and second linings. The driving shaft has a threaded portion threadedly engaging the first braking member such that, through operation of the actuator, the first lining is driven by the first braking member to move toward a side surface of a brake disk in a direction to thereby move the second braking member to move toward an opposite side surface of the brake disk in an opposite direction, so that the first and second linings are moved toward each other to clamp the brake disk therebetween.
