    摘要: A pressure pad comprises a plenum chamber, adapted to be conneceted to a pressurized-fluid supply means, having a pair of parallel slit nozzles formed in a top wall, and the chamber is arranged underneath a path of a strip. The plenum chamber is provided with holes in the top wall and at least two obstructions on the top wall. The holes are arranged on imaginary lines that extend between the nozzles on both sides of the top wall and central portions thereof point to adjacent edges of the path. Each of the obstructions comprises at least one obstructing wall arranged on either side of one of the imaginary lines. The lines may have V-, Arch- or Bracket-shaped configurations.

    摘要: In a level control method of controlling levels of a series of mutually joined materials when the materials pass through a catenary zone, whenever the joint travels a given length in the catenary zone, a plurality of optimum catenary curves are calculated with the position of the joint in the catenary zone as a parameter. Based upon a result of the calculation so obtained, a relationship indicative of the level of a material at the location of a catenary sensor is then calculated as a function of the position of the joint in the catenary zone. At this moment, the catenary sensor is used to detect the level of the material. Finally, the level of the material at the location of the catenary sensor is controlled with a value indicated by the above relationship being used as a target value. As a result, even when a joint between two adjoining materials having different unit weights passes through the catenary zone, the materials can travel in the catenary zone while the level is appropriately maintained.

    摘要: An illustrative embodiment of the invention prevents strip work from ''''fluttering'''' and ''''canoeing'''' by establishing spaces of static high pressure fluid on both sides of the strip. Preferably, jets of pressurized fluid form the periphery of each of the static high pressure spaces. The jets and the static pressure thus formed, push the adjacent portion of the strip work back toward an equilibrium position with an increasing force as the strip comes closer to the jets in order to restore a wellbalanced condition on both sides of the strip that eliminates fluttering and canoeing. This technique can be used in a cooling zone to heat treat the strip work, for example, in a continuous annealing furnace.

    摘要: A device for blowing gas on a face of traveling strip material has at least one hollow box having its wall fitted with a plurality of blow orifices enabling gas to be directed towards the face of the strip material. The hollow box is also fitted laterally on at least one side thereof relative to a midplane (Q) perpendicular to the plane in the strip with a movable shutter member having the function of selectively shutting some of the blow orifices in order to adapt the width of the blow zone to the width of the corresponding strip material. The movable shutter member has an edge adjacent to the inside surface of the wall fitted with the blow orifices, and an edge adjacent to a side wall of the hollow box.
