Abstract: This disclosure provides systems and methods operating a virtual reality (VR) system. The VR system can have a head mounted device (HMD) to provide alerts based on notifications from surrounding internet of things (IoT) devices. The method can include storing, in a memory, one or more sound patterns, each sound pattern of the one or more sound patterns being associated with one of a critical event and a non-critical event. The method can include receiving, at a processor, a notification from a home device of one or more of home devices, the notification indicating a status change of the home device. The method can include determining that the notification corresponds to a critical event based on the one or more sound patterns. The method can include providing a critical message via the HMD of the VR system indicating that the critical event has occurred.

Abstract: An intelligent remote touch mechanism is provided. In one aspect, a device with a touch screen initiates remote wireless access of the device by a remote device by receiving a remote access command without using its touch screen. The device authorizes remote wireless access by the remote device based on an authorization code received from the remote device. The device may receive a remote command from the remote device. In another aspect, a device receives a notification regarding the availability of remote wireless access to a touch screen device. The device transmits an authorization code to the touch screen device. The device receives a confirmation that remote wireless access to the touch screen device is enabled. The device receives, by its touch screen, a command for performing a function at the device. The device transmits the command wirelessly to the touch screen device.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes maintaining a list of future user events. The list includes a field associated with each of the future user events to indicate whether charging of a mobile device is possible during a respective future user event. The method also includes receiving user input indicating whether charging of the mobile device is possible during at least one of the future user events and updating the field associated with the future user events based on the user input. Also included in the method is setting a battery charging threshold based on one or more of the future user events and based on the fields associated with the future user events. An alert may then be generated prior to a future user event in response to a current battery level of the mobile device being less than the battery charging threshold.
