摘要： An improved method and apparatus for reducing NO.sub.x emissions to the atmosphere from stationary combustion sources. The improvement is accomplished by providing a plurality of zones and/or stages for injecting a suitable reducing gas and then injecting the reducing gas through one or more of said zones. The particular zone or zones actually used will be determined by temperature of the combustion effluent gas in the immediate vicinity thereof. Similarly, the exact composition of the reducing gas employed will be determined by the same temperature.

摘要： A continuous process of manufacturing black powder and black powder substitute using a twin screw extruder is disclosed. Guar gum mixed with the composition at a concentration in the range from 0.05% to 0.5%, by weight, dramatically reduced the friction in the dies and permitted extrusion of the powder at much lower water levels. Different size dies used in combination with face cutting of the extruded strands produce various sized granules. The process can be operated remotely and automatically. The process reduces the number of buildings, equipment and personnel required to manufacture black powder or black powder substitute. The process produces more uniform and reproducible particle sizes.

摘要： An X-ray source apparatus contains an X-ray target which emits X-ray when bombarded with electrons from an electron source. A strong magnetic field, e.g. from a superconducting solenoid, having curved lines of magnetic flux interlinks the target and electron source. The magnetic field has sufficient strength over the entire electron path of travel to constrain the electrons emitted from the source with components at angles to the magnetic field to execute helical paths about the field lines to the target. An aperture means is positioned to block the straight line paths between the source and the target but permits the passage of substantially all electrons traveling along the lines of flux.

摘要： A continuous extrusion process for manufacturing composite gun propellant is disclosed. The disclosed process is particularly suitable for preparing gun propellant formulations based upon a cellulose ester binder. In the process, the binder ingredients are dissolved in an organic solvent and then pumped directly into a twin-screw extruder. The other ingredients, except the oxidizer, may optionally be dissolved in the organic solvent prior to introduction into the twin-screw extruder. The oxidizer is dried, ground, and also fed dry to the twin-screw extruder. In the extruder, the materials are thoroughly mixed and the solvent is reduced to sufficient level for direct extrusion through the desired dies.
