Abstract: A controller device is configured to communicate with storage nodes of a distributed storage system (DSS) in which erasure codes are used to encode source data onto the storage nodes and ranks of matrices containing coding coefficients associated with the erasure codes indicate whether repairs of failed storage nodes of the DSS are feasible. A decomposition structure is generated to be used as a guide for transforming the matrices to upper triangle form (UTF) for use in computing the ranks of the matrices. While the DSS is operating to perform repairs of the failed storage nodes, as part of determining feasible repair strategies that will preserve subsequent repairs of failed storage nodes, the ranks of the matrices are computed by transforming the matrices to UTF using operations on the submatrices according to the decomposition structure.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a network identifies delay requirements of each of a plurality of media streams. The device selects a joint forward error correction (FEC) encoding strategy for the plurality of media streams based on the identified delay requirements of the streams and on a burst loss length of a communication channel. The device applies the selected joint FEC encoding strategy to the plurality of media streams, to form a multiplexed packet stream. The device sends the multiplexed packet stream to one or more nodes in the network via the communication channel.

Abstract: Correlating devices and clients across addresses may be provided. A first address associated with a client device may be received. When the client device is not connected to a network, first location data associated with the first address may be obtained using a passive technique. A second address and second location data associated with the second address may then be obtained using an active technique. It may then be determined that the first location data and the second location data correlate. In response to determining that the first location data and the second location data correlate, it may be determined that the client device has changed from the first address to the second address.

Abstract: Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) equalization using a Deep Neural Network (DNN) may be provided. First, a signal in a packet structure may be received at an OFDM receiver from an OFDM transmitter. The signal may have distortion. Training constellation points, pilot constellation points, and data constellation points may be extracted from the signal based on the packet structure. Each data constellation point may correspond to a data subcarrier within a data symbol of the signal. Next, the training constellation points and the pilot constellation may be provided as input for the data symbol to a DNN. A coefficient for each data subcarrier within the data symbol that reverses the distortion may be received as output from the DNN. Then, the coefficient for each data subcarrier may be applied to the corresponding data constellation point to determine a per subcarrier constellation point prediction.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device determines locations of a plurality of transmitters relative to a particular wireless access point in a wireless network. One of the transmitters comprises a target client to which the particular wireless access point is to communicate. The device compares a plurality of beamforming patterns associated with the particular wireless access point to the determined locations. The device selects, based on the comparison, one of the beamforming patterns for use by the particular wireless access point to communicate with the target client. The device controls the particular wireless access point to use the selected beamforming pattern to communicate with the target client.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a network assigns packets from a communication transmitted via the network to time windows over a period of time. The device determines a transmission performance metric for each of the packets in a particular time window and calculates, for each of the time windows, local disturbance scores, which are based on the transmission performance metrics for the packet in the time windows. A particular local disturbance score for a particular time window maps the transmission performance metrics for the packets in the time window to a perceived quality metric. The device determines a distortion score for the communication by aggregating the local disturbance scores for the time windows over the period of time.

Abstract: In one implementation, a method of maintaining continuous identity for mobile devices includes: obtaining a first address for a first device; and obtaining, from one or more auxiliary sensors, auxiliary sensor information related to the first device. The method also includes determining whether the auxiliary sensor information matches information associated with a second address, where the second address was previously associated with the first device. The method further includes linking the first address with the second address for the first device, in order to continue tracking the first device when the second address is no longer detected, in response to determining that the auxiliary sensor information matches information associated with the second address.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a device in a serial network de-multiplexes a stream of traffic in the serial network into a plurality of data streams. The device determines that data from a particular data stream should be reported to an entity external to the serial network based on an event indicated by the data from the particular data stream. The device quantizes the data from the particular data stream. The device applies compression to the quantized data to form a compressed representation of the particular data stream. The applied compression is selected based on a data type associated with the data. The device sends a compressed representation of the particular data stream to the external entity as Internet Protocol (IP) traffic.
