Abstract:
A cell culture article is provided. The cell culture substrate includes a polygalacturonic acid compound selected from at least one of: pectic acid or salts thereof, and partially esterified pectic acid having a degree of esterification from 1 to 40 mol % or salts thereof. The polygalacturonic acid compound is crosslinked with a divalent cation and the divalent cation concentration ranges from 0.5 to 2 g/1 of the substrate.
Abstract:
Magnetic microcarrier beads have a particle size of 1 to 1000 micrometers and include a composite core and a polymer coating that surrounds and encapsulates the core. The composite core includes magnetic particles embedded within an indigestible polymer matrix. The coating is a digestible or indigestible polymer that facilitates cell adhesion to the surface of the beads during cell culture. Magnetic force can be used to agitate the microcarrier beads during cell culture as well as to separate the beads from cultured cells or processed bio-media.
Abstract:
An organic/inorganic composite is provided. The organic/inorganic composite materials are sufficiently hard and brittle to be ground to form particles suitable for biological or chemical separation applications. The organic/inorganic composite materials can be magnetic or magnetically susceptible and can have functional reactive groups to allow attachment of biomolecules. Methods of making and using the organic/inorganic composites are also provided.
Abstract:
An aqueous cell culture medium composition includes an aqueous cell culture solution configured to support the culture of mammalian cells. The composition further includes a synthetic polymer conjugated to a polypeptide dissolved in the aqueous cell culture solution. The synthetic polymer conjugated to a polypeptide is configured to attach to the surface of a cell culture article under cell culture conditions. Incubation of the aqueous cell culture medium composition on a cell culture surface under cell culture conditions results is attachment to the surface of the synthetic polymer conjugated to the polypeptide.
