摘要: A composite layer of carbon nanotubes and metal such as copper is formed by electrodeposition. The layer has a thickness of at least 10 μm. The carbon nanotubes are distributed through the layer and are present in the layer at a volume fraction of at least 0.001 vol % and at most 65 vol %. The volume fraction is based on the total volume of the metal and carbon nanotubes and not including any pore volume. The carbon nanotubes are substantially uniformly plated with the metal. The composite layer has a density ratio satisfying Player Pmetal ≤0.35 where player is the bulk density of the composite layer of thickness of at least 10 μm, including any voids that are present in the composite layer and pmetal is the volumetric mass density material property of the metal. The composite layer is of use in evaporation-condensation apparatus, as an active material layer in an electrochemical device or in an electroforming process.

摘要: The invention provides a method for labeling a nucleic acid comprising N6-methyl adenine. The method comprises forming an alpha-amino radical on the N6-methyl group of N6mAde, and capturing the alpha-amino radical with a radical acceptor comprising a nitrosopyridyl group. The presence of N6mAde in a nucleic acid may then be established by detection of the labeled nucleic acid, or the labeled nucleic acid may be extracted or further modified using the label. Also provided is a method for mapping the position of N6mAde within a target nucleic acid, and probe molecules and kits for use in the method.

摘要: A particle sensing device is disclosed for sensing particles entrained in a gas, distribution of particle sizes including a first size range (e.g. PM2.5) and a second size range (e.g. PM10), larger than the first size range. A thermophoretic impulse is applied to the entrained particles. The device has a a first sensor, downstream of the thermophoretic impulse region. The thermophoretic impulse, the flow of gas and gravity combine to cause at least some of the particles to follow respective trajectories within the sampling volume. An interception unit is interposed between the thermophoretic impulse region and the first sensor, to intercept the respective trajectories of particles of the second size range but not respective trajectories of particles of the first size range. The first sensor is located to intercept and detect the respective trajectories of particles of the first size range.

摘要: This invention relates to modular proteins that interact with one or more target molecules. The chimeric proteins comprise two or more repeat domains, such as tetratricopeptide repeat domains; inter-repeat loops linking the repeat domains; and one or more peptide ligands. Each peptide ligand is located in an inter-repeat loop or at the N or C terminus of the chimeric protein.
