Abstract: A method is described for controlling a printhead including an array of light sources. An aim exposure function is provided which gives an aim exposure as a function of an integer pulse count. An initial pulse timing function is also provided which defines an exposure time as a function of pulse count. A light output function for the light sources is determined responsive to the pulse timing function, wherein the light output function gives a light output of the light sources as a function of exposure time. The pulse timing function is updated responsive to the light output function and the aim exposure function. The process is repeated until a predefined iteration termination criterion is satisfied. The determined pulse timing function is used to control the printhead, wherein each light source is activated for a pulse count corresponding to a pixel code value of an associated image pixel.

Abstract: Provided is a device that prevents complicating the operation required to execute a desired process even when the screen changes and the GUI buttons to which the desired process is assigned is not displayed. A multifunction device 1 has a inside touch panel part 41 (touch panel); first to fourth inscribed buttons 23 to 26 (first buttons) outside a inside touch panel part 41; a display controller 61 that displays first to fourth GUI buttons 72 to 75 (second buttons) in the inside touch panel part 41 in the home screen 66 (first state), and does not display first to fourth GUI buttons 72 to 75 in the inside touch panel part 41 in a operating screen 67 (second state); a light emission controller 62 that does not illuminate the first to fourth inscribed buttons 23 to 26 in the first state, and illuminates the first to fourth inscribed buttons 23 to 26 in the second state; and a control module 2 that executes the same process whether the first to fourth inscribed buttons 23 to 26 or first to fourth GUI buttons 72 to 75 are operated.

Abstract: Devices and methods for managing print jobs on a printing device having a plurality of output media trays are disclosed. The method includes monitoring a print job in an active state, the print job is associated with a predetermined output media tray. The print job being switched from the active state to a held state is detected based on a status of at least one of a first set of printing resources, print input conditions, and print output conditions being negative for the print job. A new incoming print job received at the printing device is identified. A second set of printing resources, print input conditions, and print output conditions are determined for the new incoming print job. Finally, the printing device is triggered to print the new incoming print job for producing prints via an alternate output media tray while the print job is in the held state.

Abstract: A system may automatically scan a physical document and perform processing actions on the scanned document according to a workflow. The system may include a scanning device that can detect a trigger event when a portable memory device is connected to or paired with the device or when a document, including one or multiple pages, is placed on the document handler of the device. Upon detecting the trigger event, the scanning device may retrieve the workflow and associated instructions from one or more designated folders on the portable memory device, automatically scan the document on the document handler to a digital document file, and perform various processing actions on the digital document file according to the workflow, with little or no user interaction. The processing actions may include storing, faxing, and emailing the scanned document, and/or performing certain document conversion functions on the digital document file.

Abstract: This image processing apparatus performs image processing on image data, and includes an edit-region identifying section identifying a user-specified region in the image data as an edit region, a character-position identifying section identifying the positions of individual characters in the image data, a character-region generating section generating a character region for each of the characters whose positions have been identified by the character-position identifying section, an edit-character-string identifying section identifying an edit character string based on candidate characters identified by determining the degree of overlay between the edit region and character region, and an image processing unit performing image processing on the edit character string identified by the edit-character-string identifying section.
