Abstract:
Systems and methods for partitioning session initial protocol (SIP) processing among execution units are disclosed. An exemplary device comprises: a plurality of execution units and a plurality of session initiation protocol (SIP) processes. The SIP processes comprise: a SIP transport process; a SIP location server process; and a plurality of SIP core processes. The SIP transport process executes on a first one of the execution units. The SIP location server executes on a second one of the execution units. Each of the SIP core processes executes on a different remaining one of the execution units. An exemplary method comprises: executing a SIP transport process on a first one of the execution units; executing a SIP location server on a second one of the execution units, and executing each of the SIP core processes on a different remaining one of the execution units.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for security in a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) message. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an access point (104) has a transceiver (302) for coupling a VoIP terminal (102) with a communications network (110), and a processor (304). The processor is programmed to intercept (302) a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) message from the VoIP terminal, interleave (306) portions of the VoIP message into two or more packet streams, encrypt (310) each packet stream, and transmit (316) each encrypted packet stream in distinct communication channels of the communication network.
Abstract:
A signal processing system which discriminates between voice signals and data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier. The signal processing system includes a voice exchange, a data exchange and a call discriminator. The voice exchange is capable of exchanging voice signals between a switched circuit network and a packet based network. The signal processing system also includes a data exchange capable of exchanging data signals modulated by a voiceband carrier on the switched circuit network with unmodulated data signal packets on the packet based network. The data exchange is performed by demodulating data signals from the switched circuit network for transmission on the packet based network, and modulating data signal packets from the packet based network for transmission on the switched circuit network. The call discriminator is used to selectively enable the voice exchange and data exchange.
Abstract:
A bridge apparatus for Internet telephone exchange and an Internet phone system. The bridge apparatus is connected with a telephone exchange to form an Internet telephone exchange. An ordinary phone can make phone call through the Internet telephone exchange, a router and Internet to a remote Internet phone after the ordinary phone is dialed. Moreover, a remote Internet phone also can make phone call to a local ordinary phone through Internet, the router, the Internet telephone exchange.
Abstract:
An arrangement which includes a telephone and an interface unit, which interfaces the telephone to both a standard switched telephone communications network and an Internet communications network, is disclosed. The interface unit includes an input coupled to the telephone to receive audio information and two output ports configured to be respectively coupled to the standard switched telephone communications network and the Internet communications network. A processing unit couples the audio information received from the telephone to the first output port when the telephonic communication is to be performed using the standard switched telephone communications network. Alternatively, the processing unit processes the audio information received from the telephone in accordance with standard Internet transfer protocols and couples the processed audio information to the second output port when the telephonic communication is to be performed using the Internet communications network and the standard protocols.
Abstract:
A system for integrating telephonic service providers to subscribers of a voice-over-Internet service comprises a device interface, a voice-over-Internet platform, and a provider interface. The device interface enables a communication link over an existing telephone service and a data network to a subscriber voice-over-Internet device. The voice-over-Internet platform links or binds a telephone number associated with the existing telephone service to a unique identifier associated with the subscriber voice-over-Internet device. The provider interface exposes the voice-over-Internet platform and thus the subscribers to a service provider. As a result, a landline or wireless telephone service customer can subscribe to services provided by the service provider without the knowledge or permission of the telephone service company.
Abstract:
An asynchronous network stream transmitter receives a transport stream having content packets and packets to be filtered out and is adapted to selectively encapsulate content packets into network frames.
Abstract:
A computer telephony interface (CTI) applications computer interfaces to a Internet telephony system which utilizes, preferably, the session initiation protocol (SIP). In one preferred technique, an additional pass through server is added to connect end users to their associated SIP proxy server, and to connect a CTI applications computer to the system.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus are directed towards managing a Voice over IP (VOIP) message over a network, where the VOIP message may employ the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) and possibly Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) over the User Datagram Protocol (UDP). The invention enables a VOIP client device, such as an IP phone, and the like, to communicate a message to a local proxy residing on a local computing device. The communications between the VOIP device and the local proxy may employ SIP/RTP over UDP. Upon receipt of the communications, the local proxy converts the transport protocol to another transport protocol, such as Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). The local proxy may also perform a port translation on the message. The converted communications may then be sent to a remote server, where it may be employed in its present SIP/RTP over TCP format, or be converted back to using UDP.
Abstract:
A communication management method and apparatus is presented. Such method and apparatus operate to transmit, from an application computer in communication with a gatekeeper which is connected to a data network, messages indicative of (a) telephone calls in progress at an endpoint of the data network, or (b) such endpoint, and to transmit, from the gatekeeper to the application computer, messages indicative of a variety of information contained in the telephone calls so as to process such information for a variety of applications. The invention provides protocols for classifying incoming messages and prioritizing these messages for the presentation to, and utilization by, a system user.
