Abstract: Techniques are provided which may be implemented using various methods and/or apparatuses for locating a User Equipment (UE) using one or more proximity devices (PDs) nearby to the UE. One of the provided exemplary techniques includes initiating, by the UE, a request for a location of the UE; sending, by the UE to a location server, a first message comprising a first information for at least one PD in communication with the UE; receiving, by the UE from the location server, a second message comprising a second information for the at least one PD; sending, by the UE to the at least one PD, the second information; receiving, by the UE from the at least one PD, a third information; and obtaining, by the UE, the location of the UE based on the third information.

Abstract: Methods of assisting an emergency situation at a first User Equipment (UE) may comprise detecting the emergency situation; and sending an Emergency Services (ES) request comprising discovery information, wherein the ES request is sent by broadcast using a Long Term Evolution (LTE) Direct service, a WiFi Direct service, or a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) service. Disclosed embodiments also pertain to methods of assisting an emergency situation at a first UE, wherein the method is performed on a second UE and comprises receiving from the first UE an ES request comprising the discovery information for the first UE, wherein the ES request is received using an LTE Direct service; a WiFi Direct service or a P2P service. Disclosed embodiments further pertain to methods of communicating by first UE and/or second UE with a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in order to assist discovery of the second UE by the first UE.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to enable management of an asset to be transferred from a first entity to a second entity such that an Information Manager that stores information for the asset can authenticate the management transfer when the second entity requests the Information Manager to access or modify the stored information for the asset. Authentication is enabled using a token assigned to the asset by the Information Manager which is provided to the first entity by the Information Manager, transferred from the first entity to the second entity following the transfer of management and provided to the Information Manager by the second entity to enable authentication of the request by the second entity to access or modify the stored information for the asset. In an embodiment, the asset may be a WiFi access point or Bluetooth beacon and the Information Manager may be a National Emergency Address Manager.

Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for supporting location services for a user equipment (UE) that is using Narrowband Internet of Things radio access or Cellular Internet of Things features to access a wireless network. The techniques include enabling support for a last known location of a UE, using previously obtained location measurements, when a UE is not reachable from a wireless network for positioning. The techniques also include limiting positioning protocol interaction between a UE and a location server via a reduced maximum message size, reduced message volume and longer response and retransmission timers. The techniques further include enabling a UE to obtain location measurements when not connected to a wireless network, enabling periodic and triggered location of a UE in which a UE evaluates location triggers while not connected to a wireless network, enabling use of deferred location and enabling improved location security.

Abstract: Various techniques are provided for Location Services (LCS) Assistance Data broadcast, for example for implementation in LTE and LTE-A systems. The embodiments described herein may use the LPP/LPPe positioning protocol, by making use of existing unsolicited Provide Assistance Data (PAD) messages. Embodiments avoid the need to define and implement a separate broadcast Assistance Data protocol. Additional exemplary embodiments for scheduling and verifying of the broadcast Assistance Data messages are described herein.

Abstract: Techniques for supporting positioning for terminals in a wireless network are described. In an aspect, positioning for a target device includes exchanging positioning messages that support a plurality of positioning methods between the target device and a location server. The positioning message may include common parameters applicable for all positioning methods. One of the positioning messages may be a Request Assistance Data message to request assistance data for a first positioning method, wherein the common parameters for the Request Assistance Data message includes an approximate location of the target device determined using a different positioning method. Another positioning message may be a Provide Assistance Data message to provide assistance data that is not in response to a request for assistance data, wherein the common parameters for the Provide Assistance Data message may include an approximate location of the target device or a current time.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods for populating and using a pressure database to determine an altitude of a unit with an unknown altitude are presented. A pressure from one or more barometric pressure sensors linked to respective base stations are interpolated to determine a reference pressure (e.g., at sea level) at arbitrary coordinates (x,y) having pressure reading. For example, a mobile station at the arbitrary coordinates (x,y) records a pressure at the mobile station. A difference between this pressure at the mobile station and the interpolated reference pressure is determined, which may directly be interpreted as a defined altitude of the mobile station.
