Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to buffer communications with a network node. A buffer size of a buffer used to buffer the communications may be specific to a non-terrestrial network (NTN) via which the UE communicates with the network node. For example, the UE may calculate the buffer size based on a maximum data rate of a connection with the network node via the NTN and a radio link control (RLC) round trip time (RTT). The RLC RTT may be specific to NTNs. The UE may use a buffer having the calculated buffer size to buffer the communications between the UE and the network node over the connection.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some non-terrestrial networks, the movement of satellites may result in the movement of cell coverage. A user equipment (UE) may experience changing cell coverage due to the movement of cell coverage, even if the UE is stationary. A UE may be configured to determine a cell is serving two or more earth-fixed tracking areas, determine whether to monitor paging resources of a first earth-fixed tracking area or a second earth-fixed tracking area, and monitor the selected paging resources. In some aspects, the UE may determine that a cell serves two or more earth-fixed tracking areas based on a received control message including multiple tracking area indicators. In some aspects, the UE may determine which paging resources to monitor based on a geographic position of the UE.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a reference time for updating one or more system information parameters associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) or updating a cell status associated with the NTN. The UE may determine an update timer length for updating the one or more system information parameters associated with the NTN or the cell status associated with the NTN. The UE may acquire, from a current cell or a new cell, a system information block (SIB) to refresh the one or more system information parameters after an expiration time associated with the one or more system information parameters, wherein the expiration time is based at least in part on the reference time and the update timer length. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for enhancing ephemeris for non-terrestrial networks. For example, UEs of different orbit propagation capabilities (e.g., computing orbit propagation models of different accuracy levels) may receive additional ephemeris parameters. In one aspect, a network entity may determine at least one additional set of ephemeris parameters that includes different ephemeris parameters than one or more basic sets of ephemeris parameters associated with a satellite that provides a coverage for the network entity. The network entity may transmit broadcast signaling indicating the at least one additional set of ephemeris parameters. The UE may receive and use the at least one additional set of ephemeris parameters in an orbit propagation model to compute a state of motion of the satellite.
