Abstract: In general, techniques are described for performing motion vector prediction for video coding. A video coding device comprising a processor may perform the techniques. The processor may be configured to determine a plurality of candidate motion vectors for a current block of the video data so as to perform the motion vector prediction process and scale one or more of the plurality of candidate motion vectors determined for the current block of the video data to generate one or more scaled candidate motion vectors. The processor may then be configured to modify the scaled candidate motion vectors to be within a specified range.

Abstract: A device for encoding video data can be configured to encode a set of input frames of the video data with an image analysis neural network to generate a corresponding set of output frames, wherein the set of output frames includes a first output frame and additional output frames, wherein the first output frame temporally precedes the additional output frames; determine a modification to the first output frame that results in an optimized amount of distortion between the set of input frames and decoded versions of the corresponding set of output frames; update the first output frame based on the determined modification; and output a bitstream that includes the updated first output frame.

Abstract: An example method of decoding video data that includes receiving one or more syntax elements of the video data indicative of whether a first type of coding scheme or a second type of coding scheme is applied to residual values of a block of video data coded with transform skip, wherein the residual values are indicative of a difference between the block and a prediction block, and wherein, in transform skip, the residual values are not transformed from a sample domain to a frequency domain. The method includes determining a type of coding scheme to apply to the residual values based on the one or more syntax elements, determining the residual values based on the determined type of coding scheme, and reconstructing the block based on the determined residual values and the prediction block.

Abstract: As part of bypass decoding syntax elements for a set of coefficients in response to reaching a maximum number of regular coded bins, a video decoder is configured to receive a prefix value for a transform coefficient; decode the prefix value using Golomb-Rice coding; in response to a length of the prefix value being equal to a threshold value, receive a suffix value for the transform coefficient; decode the suffix value using exponential Golomb coding; and determine a level value for the transform coefficient based on the decoded prefix value and the decoded suffix value.
