Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for configuring a user equipment (UE) for reference signal measurement while operating according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The DRX configuration may include periodic DRX ON-durations, during which the UE is to be in an active mode for reception and transmission of signals, and between which the UE may transition to a low-power inactive mode. One or more reference signals may be scheduled for transmission by the base station during periods in which the UE may be in the inactive mode, and the UE may skip monitoring one or more of the reference signals while in the inactive mode. For one or more reference signal occasions, the UE may determine, based at least in part on a change in a channel quality metric, to be in a limited active mode in order to measure the reference signal.

Abstract: When sending a first set of packets is determined to be prioritized over sending a second set of packets, and when each first header of each of the first set of packets and each second header of each of the second set of packets is determined to be compressed, an apparatus may compress the first header of each of the first set of packets using a first CID associated with a connection. Further, the apparatus may compress the second header of each of the second set of packets using a second CID associated with the connection. The apparatus may send the first set of packets through the connection. The apparatus may send, after sending the first set of packets, the second set of packets through the connection.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A user equipment (UE), for example, may determine a content size of an uncompressed buffer and a content size of a compressed buffer. The UE may then generate a buffer status report (BSR) based on the content sizes of the uncompressed buffer and the compressed buffer. Alternatively, a base station may receive a BSR based on a size of an uncompressed buffer of the UE. The base station may then receive a compressed packet from the UE and may determine a compression gain based on a size of the compressed packet and a size of a corresponding uncompressed packet. The base station may then adjust the received BSR based on the compression gain.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter device may determine a completion of a handover or a radio link failure after transmitting a set of physical data units (PDUs). The transmitter device may retransmit a PDU, of the set of PDUs, after completion of the handover or the radio link failure to enable decompression of the set of PDUs. A receiver device may receive the retransmitted PDU. The receiver device may decompress the set of PDUs based at least in part on receiving the retransmitted PDU. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a UE. In aspects, a receiver may receive a transmission requesting information about support for data compression. The receiver may determine parameters related to the types of supported data compression and communicate the information to the transmitting device. In some cases, the receiver may then receive a message from the transmitting entity that requests establishment of a data compression configuration. The receiver may respond with confirmation or rejection of the proposed compression configuration. If the configuration is confirmed, the transmitter and receiver may exchange compressed data packets according to the configuration. The devices may exchange status and control information related to the compression configuration (e.g., in a compression header of a compressed message or a separate status and/or control information message).

Abstract: Early termination of enhanced multimedia broadcast-multicast service (eMBMS) is discussed. Forward error correction (FEC) redundancy data is added to broadcast data, such that if enough of the data symbols are successfully received, the data object may be reassembled before the entire transmission has been received. The aspects involve an application processor and modem processor, which may either be integrated into the same integrated circuit or separate components. The application processor obtains a total number of source symbols and a redundancy level for a data object to be received from the eMBMS, receives the successfully received data symbols from the modem processor, and then determines whether the number of successfully received data symbols exceeds a threshold for reassembling the transmitted data object. If so, then the application processor and/or the modem processor can shut down until the next broadcast.
