    摘要: A new process for the manufacture of low molecular reactive surface-active agents from carbamides, which comprises reacting a monomethylol compound of a carbamide, which is optionally etherified with a monohydric alcohol with 4 to 7 carbon atoms, with a hydrophobic or hydrophilic hydroxy compound thereafter introducing a second methylol group into the ether compound thus obtained by means of formaldehyde or a formaldehyde donor, and etherifying this methylol group with a hydrophilic or hydrophobic hydroxy compound in such a way that the end product contains at least one hydrophobic and one hydrophilic group.

    摘要: Aqueous liquid detergent compositions that remain clear and liquid over a wide range of temperatures are provided comprising an ampholytic betaine-type detergent, a nonionic surfactant, and a complexing agent. The ampholytic betaines that are employed in the liquid detergent compositions of the invention have the formula:

    摘要: Perfluorocyclocarbons and emulsions containing emulsified particles of these perfluorocarbons are useful is supporting life as intravascular oxygen and carbon dioxide transport agents. Stable emulsions of perfluorocarbocyclic derivatives are prepared for use as artificial bloods and perfusates for organs. Intravenously infused emulsions containing perfluorocyclocarbons such as perfluoro(methylcyclohexane), perfluoro(1,3dimethylcyclohexane), perfluoro(decahydronaphthalene), perfluoro(decahydro-1-methylnaphthalene), perfluoro(decahydrodimethylnaphthalene), and the like, serve as intravascular oxygen and carbon dioxide transport agents. Fluorocarbon liquids are also useful as an external respiration media for transporting oxygen-carbon dioxide necessary to support intravascular respiration. Perfluorocyclocarbons have been found after intravenous emulsion infusion as artificial bloods to collect in the reticuloendothelial system (RES) of the amimal body. However, it has also been found that perfluorocyclocarbon compounds leave the RES of the animal body and certain of these compounds, e.g., perfluoro(decahydronaphthalene), leave the RES at a much faster rate than others. Furthermore, after the intravenously infused perfluorocyclocarbon emulsions function as artificial bloods, the perfluorocyclocarbons have the capability of leaving the animal body through the tissue, e.g., the lungs and skin.

    摘要: Photographic element comprising a support and a light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer is described. The element includes in a water-permeable layer, which may be the silver halide emulsion layer, a hydrophilic colloid binder and as a surfaceactive agent a monoether or monoester of a polyglycol having oxyethylene units and oxypropylene units in a ratio of at least 2 oxyethylene units to 1 oxypropylene units, the terminal hydroxyl group of said polyglycol monoether or monoester being carboxyalkylated and the carboxyl group being in acid or salt form. The photographic elements do not exhibit hydrophobic inclusions which lead to repellency spots or comets and, additionally, are resistant to yellowing upon development.
