Abstract:
A method for network selection in a cellular and WLAN interworked network may include determining, by a UE, an association state between the UE and a WLAN access point. The UE may select a metric of the access point, based at least in part on the determined association state. The UE may determine a value of the metric. The UE may determine whether to report the value of the metric to a base station of the cellular wireless network, based on various factors. These factors may include the association state, the value of the at least one metric relative to a threshold value, a change in the association state, or receiving a reporting instruction from the base station. The UE may report the value of the metric to a base station, based on its determination. A base station may perform operations complementary to the UE, for network selection.
Abstract:
Methods performed by a user equipment (UE) for wireless communication, the method comprising receiving an authentication load indicator from an access point (AP), and determining whether to attempt authentication with a network entity based at least in part on the authentication load indicator.
Abstract:
In a wireless communication system, user equipment (UE) has autonomy provided by one or more set of rules to handle processing during a measurement gap. UE can ignore or use only a portion of the whole measurement gap if not needed. Thereby, an urgent need for remaining tuned to source carrier frequency can be supported, such as utilizing Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure. UE can also choose to tune to a target carrier frequency supporting timely handovers. Depending on the type of processing required (download shared channel (DL-SCH, UL-SCH, TTI bundling, RACH or SR), the UE may store requests and process the measurements during the gap or ignore the gap measurement as if there were no gaps.
Abstract:
A server initiating shut down of a transport control protocol (TCP) connection when a radio connection is terminated is problematic because a new radio connection must be established for the sole purpose of shutting down the TCP connection. Hence, network and terminal resources for establishing the radio connection are wasted. Accordingly, a method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for initiating a closing of a transport layer connection at a client are provided. The apparatus determines whether a functionality associated with the transport layer connection satisfies at least one criterion, and closes the transport layer connection when the functionality satisfies the at least one criterion while a radio layer connection is available. As a result, the TCP connection is shut down by the client before the server can activate a new radio connection for the sole purpose of terminating the TCP connection.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems and techniques for wireless communications. For instance, a wireless device may receive a signal from a first wireless network while the wireless device is in an idle mode; determine, from the received signal, a signal to noise ratio (SNR) and a doppler shift; retrieve stored network capability information; and estimate, based on the SNR, the doppler shift, and the stored network capability information, a throughput of the first wireless network.
Abstract:
Wireless communication systems and methods related to radio link control (RLC) transmissions are provided. A first wireless communication device transmits a sequence of protocol data units (PDUs). The first wireless communication device receives a first reception status report for a first portion of a receiver buffer window used for receiving the sequence of PDUs from a second wireless communication device. The first wireless communication device receives a second reception status report for a second portion of the receiver buffer window, the second portion being different from the first portion, from the second wireless communication device.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) user equipment (UE) may communicate, using a first SIM, on a plurality of component carriers. The multi-SIM UE may select a first subset of component carriers from the plurality of component carriers based at least in part on a component carrier prioritization. The multi-SIM UE may identify an amount of memory available to a second SIM. The multi-SIM UE may tune away, based at least in part on the amount of memory available to the second SIM, from a second subset of component carriers The first subset of component carriers may be different from the second subset of component carriers. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may receive an uplink (UL) grant (e.g., dynamic UL grant, UL configured grant (CG)) from a network, but may decide to skip the UL grant altogether or not transmit any user plane data on the UL grant. In such instances, the UE may maintain or expedite expiration associated with one or more timers (e.g., discontinuous reception (DRX) and bandwidth part (BWP) inactivity timers, secondary cell (SCell) deactivation timer, etc.). The UE may also maintain or expedite expiration associated with one or more timers if it receives downlink (DL) transmission (e.g., DL semi-persistent scheduling (SPS)) from the network that includes no user plane data.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive information indicating a timer value of a timer associated with discarding a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) service data unit (SDU). The UE may determine that a timer modification condition is satisfied. The UE may modify the timer value based at least in part on the determination that the timer modification condition is satisfied. The UE may transmit a communication using the modified timer value. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Wireless communication systems and methods related to Radio Link Control (RLC) status reporting are provided. A wireless communication device receives one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device determines missing RLC data PDUs in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device receives a first uplink (UL) grant. The wireless communication device transmits a first RLC status report including an indication of a first subset of the missing RLC PDUs less than all the missing RLC PDUs, the indication of the first subset of missing PDUs being based on a size of the first UL grant. The wireless communication device modifies a RLC status prohibit timer based on the transmitted first RLC status report indicating less than all the missing RLC PDUs.
