Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for a connection system operable to sink and source supply power are provided. In this regard, one or more circuits within a connector that resides in a networking enabled device may be operable to determine whether the networking enabled device is to operate as a powered device or as a power supplying device. Based on a result of the determination, the one or more circuits may be operable to couple power pins of the connector to either a first power rail of the networking enabled device or a second power rail of the networking enabled device. The determination of whether the networking enabled device is to operate as a powered device or as a power supplying device may be based on a voltage on a sense pin of the connector and/or based on mechanical characteristics of the connector.
Abstract:
Aspects of a system for transforming uncompressed video traffic to network-aware Ethernet traffic with A/V bridging capabilities and A/V bridging extensions may include a graphics processing unit (GPU) that may enable encapsulation of uncompressed video data and/or auxiliary channel data within a Display Port protocol data unit (PDU). A LAN subsystem may enable encapsulation of the Display Port PDU within an encapsulating PDU. The LAN subsystem may enable determination of a traffic class designation associated with the encapsulating PDU. The LAN subsystem may enable transmission of the encapsulating PDU via a network based on the traffic class designation.
Abstract:
A system and method for Service Interoperability in Ethernet Passive Optical Network (SIEPON) energy saving statistics. Energy saving statistics can be collected from a plurality of subordinate nodes in a point-to-multipoint network through a mechanism that aggregates energy saving statistics as those energy saving statistics are reported upstream. Such aggregation of energy saving statistics can be advantageous in that the aggregated energy saving information can appear uncorrelated to individual subordinate nodes. Privacy concerns are thereby addressed.
Abstract:
A service provisioning enabled management in Service Interoperability in Ethernet Passive Optical Network (SIEPON) switching subsystem. The delivery of network services to each of a plurality of subscribers coupled to an optical network unit (ONU) can be defined individually by the service provider. The service-specific functions within the ONU can be configured based on knowledge of the levels of provisioning of network services.
Abstract:
Cable imbalance diagnostics between channels that include wire pairs for power over Ethernet transmission. In one embodiment, measurements of one or more characteristics of a first channel that includes a first of four twisted wire pairs in a network cable are performed along with measurements of one or more characteristics of a second channel that includes a second of the four twisted wire pairs in the network cable. A determination is then made as to whether the measured one or more characteristics of the first channel and the measured one or more characteristics of the second channel indicate an imbalance between the first channel and the second channel. Adjustments such as isolation, reporting or compensation can then be made in response to the determination
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided to allow a service provider to manage, query, and dynamically configure the protocols on network facing interfaces as well as the devices on that domain where the service provider may be provisioning services using the IEEE P1904.1 Standard for Service Interoperability in Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (SIEPON). Systems and methods are provided for using SIEPON to update an Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) configuration of a Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) device and for using SIEPON to gather information from a CPE device.
Abstract:
A broadband gateway may provide energy management service within a home network. The energy management service may enable reducing and/or enhancing energy consumption within the home network. The energy management service may comprise managing one or more devices in the home network by the broadband gateway. The energy management service may be performed based on energy-related information associated with devices, and the information may be stored by the broadband gateway. At least some of the energy-related information may be acquired from the managed devices. The energy management service may comprise controlling and/or configuring the managed devices, and/or communications between the managed devices within the home network. The broadband gateway may track actual energy usage by the managed devices. Information corresponding to energy-related activities and/or usage may be displayed via a user interface. The information may also be reported to entities external to the home network.
Abstract:
A network node module within a vehicle operates to manage devices coupled to a vehicular communication network of the vehicle based on a use mode defining rights and privileges for operating in the vehicular communication network. Upon being configured in accordance with a particular use mode of a set of use modes, the network node module can identify a device coupled to the vehicular communication network and enable the device to operate within the vehicular communication network in accordance with the use mode. The network node module is securely reconfigurable to any use mode in the set of use modes.
Abstract:
An Ethernet link may comprise one or more link partners that may be communicatively coupled via one or more silent channels, One or more circuits and/or parameters corresponding to silent channels may be retrained, refreshed and/or updated based on various triggers, for example, fixed times, periodic or aperiodic time intervals, random or pseudorandom timer, events, link statistics, physical conditions such as noise, temperature level, cable type and/or cable length, communication from a corresponding link partner and/or based on programming from, for example, a layer above the physical layer. The retraining, refreshing and/or parameter updating may occur for one or more of an echo canceller, a far-end crosstalk canceller and a near-end crosstalk canceller corresponding to the one or more silent channels. Subsequent to the retraining, refreshing and/or parameter updating, the one or more silent channels may be activated and/or may remain silent.
Abstract:
A networking system supports dynamic management of representations of interactions between network members and resources based on global representations of the interactions. Representative views of the interactions for various devices associated with members and network accounts can be managed based on the global representation and configuration information. Representative views can be accessed simultaneously from separate devices, and upon accessing a network from supporting devices, enabling seamless transitions between supporting devices. Members can be provided an option of accessing interactions and engaging in new interactions. Multiple instances of resources can be distributed and provided to members based on locations, energy usage associated with supporting the interactions, and capabilities of devices associated with members. Interactions by various associated devices can be managed, controlled, and restricted based on configuration information.
