Abstract:
A method of producing a glazed ceramic substrate, which is useful for a hybrid integrated circuit or a thermal head of a thermal printer for instance, by applying a glass onto a major surface of a ceramic substrate, firing the substrate to form a molten glass layer on the substrate surface and cooling the fired substrate. To obtain the glazed ceramic substrate with high flatness despite the tendency of the substrate to warp due to difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the ceramic and the glass, a refractory base which supports the substrate during the firing and cooling steps is so shaped as to allow the substrate to deform during the firing step reversely to the expected warp at the cooling step, so that the warp at the cooling step is offset by the preceding deformation. For example, the upper surface of the base is shaped into a continuous and concave surface. As a modification, suitably shaped rib-like or pillar-like spacers are arranged on the top face of a flat base plate with intervals therebetween.
Abstract:
A glazed ceramic substrate for use in electric or electronic devices, obtained by forming a glass coating layer directly on a major surface of a ceramic substrate such as an alumina substrate. The glass as the material of the coating layer contains 50-60 Wt % of SiO.sub.2, 10-30 Wt % of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 15-30 Wt % of CaO and MgO, and 2-6 Wt % of ZrO.sub.2 as essential components, optionally with the addition of small amount(s) of at least one of TiO.sub.2, BaO, ZnO, PbO, P.sub.2 O.sub.5, B.sub.2 O.sub.3, Na.sub.2 O and K.sub.2 O. The coating layer formed of this glass is excellent in its high-temperature stability, so that the glazed ceramic substrate is particularly suitable for use in thermal heads of thermal printing devices.

Abstract:
A green concrete mortar is prepared by the steps of preparing a first composition in which water is uniformly deposited about the particles of sand, preparing a second composition consisting of a powder of cement, mixing together the first and second compositions, thus forming stable shells about the particles of the sand, the shells having substantially a constant ratio of water to cement, and adding water to the shelled sand and then kneading the resulting mixture. The green concrete mortar can be poured into a moulding frame prepacked with a coarse aggregate i.e. gravel. After incorporating gravel into the mortar, the resulting green concrete can be moulded or blasted. The green concrete can be readily conveyed to a working station for constructing tunnels, buildings or the like.
Abstract:
A rotational speed responsive type fluid pressure signal control valve comprises a plurality of fly weights rotated by a drive shaft, a sleeve operated by the fly weights, fluid passages provided in the valve and valve bodies actuated by the sleeve so as to open and close the fluid passages, thereby getting a fluid pressure signal from the fluid passages.
Abstract:
A fluid dynamic bearing device including: a bearing sleeve fixed to an inner periphery of a housing; a shaft member removably inserted along an inner periphery of the bearing sleeve; an annular member having an inner peripheral surface for defining a radial gap together with an outer peripheral surface of the shaft member; and radial bearing portions and a thrust bearing portion for supporting the shaft member. At least the radial bearing gap at each of the radial bearing portions, and a bottom gap having the thrust bearing portion received therein are filled with lubricating oil. A void section is formed in an interior space of the housing. Assuming that d1 represents a gap width of the radial bearing gap and d2 represents a gap width of the radial gap, a relationship of 30d1≦d2≦250d1 is satisfied.
Abstract:
An imager is provided having an image-capturing sensor, a focusing detector, and a flicker detector. The image-capturing sensor captures a subject image with a rolling shutter and outputs image data. The focusing detector determines whether a subject image is in focus of the image-capturing sensor using the output image data. The flicker detector detects a flicker in the output image data. The focusing detector uses horizontal data without vertical data from the image data so as to determine whether a subject image is in focus, when the flicker detector detects a flicker.
Abstract:
A protector which prevents damage to a solid lubricating coating on a threaded portion of a threaded joint when the protector is mounted on a pin or a box of a threaded joint for pipes in which at least one of the pin or the box is lubricated with a solid lubricating coating comprises a tubular member having a threaded portion on its inner or outer peripheral surface which threadingly engages with at least a portion and preferably 3-5 complete threads of the threaded portion provided on the pin or the box to be protected. The thread height H1 of the threaded portion of the protector and the thread height H2 of the complete thread of the pin or the box on which the protector is mounted satisfy H1>H2, and the difference between H1 and H2 [=H1−H2] is larger than the maximum coating thickness at the thread crest of the solid lubricating coating which covers the threaded portion of the pin or the box.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates, an active area to display an image, a seal material surrounding the active area, and an intermediate area between the active area and the seal area. In the intermediate area, first and second color filters are formed on the second substrate. An overcoat layer is laminated on the first and second color filters. First and second pillar-shaped spacers are provided between the overcoat layer and the first substrate corresponding to the first and second color filters to form a first and second cell gaps between the first and second substrates, respectively. The first cell gap adjacent to the active area between the first and second substrates is smaller than the second cell gap adjacent to the seal area in the intermediate area.

Abstract:
An imager is provided having an imaging sensor and a focusing detector. The imaging sensor reads stored charges in a positive or negative direction and outputs image data created from the read charges. The comparator calculates a differential between first image data output by said imaging sensor and second image data output by the imaging sensor immediately after the first image data is output, and determines whether the differential is larger than a first threshold value. The composer creates composite image data from the data of two images output by the imaging sensor. When the comparator determines that the differential is larger than the first threshold value, the composer creates composite image data from the second image data and negatively scanned image data that is obtained by scanning the second image in a direction that is opposite to the scanning direction of the second image data.
