    Abstract: An example aspect comprises selecting an azimuth mode for an OAM MIMO transmission by a transmitter that includes a first number of circles that each include a second number of antenna elements, wherein the azimuth mode defines a DFT vector of a size less than or equal to the second number; selecting, from a plurality of radial modes associated with the azimuth mode, a radial mode for the transmission, wherein the radial modes include at least a first radial mode defining a first beamforming vector and a second radial mode defining a second beamforming vector, wherein each one of the first and second beamforming vectors includes the DFT vector weighted and repeated for a number of times less than or equal to the first number, wherein the first and second beamforming vectors are orthogonal to each other; and transmitting a signal using a beam configured according to the radial mode.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a transmitting device may transmit a set of reference signals to a receiver via a configurable surface such as a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). The RIS may randomly adjust one or more parameters for one or multiple RIS elements to provide different beamformed parameters for reflected instances of each reference signal from the RIS. Each reference signal may have a corresponding reference signal index value, and the receiver may provide an indication of a selected the reference signal index value based on channel measurements of the reference signals. The transmitting device may provide an indication to the RIS of the index value, and may communicate with the receiver based on the selected reference signal via the RIS, where the RIS uses the parameters associated with the RIS index value for the communications.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for configuring a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) for wireless communication. A method that may be performed by a base station (BS) includes transmitting one or more parameters corresponding to a time period for the RIS to adapt to user equipment (UE) configuration information, the UE configuration information for configuring the RIS for RIS-assisted communication between the BS and a UE, the one or more parameters comprising a number of symbols indicative of a duration of time.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first indication of a first number of antenna ports for which the UE is to report channel state information (CSI), and a second indication of a second number of antenna ports on which the UE is to measure CSI reference signals (CSI-RSs). The second number may be less than the first number. The UE may receive an indication of one or more antenna port parameters, where each may be associated with one of the first number of antenna ports or the second number of antenna ports. The UE may determine the CSI for the first number of antenna ports using the one or more antenna port parameters and measurements made by the UE on the second number of ports, and may transmit a report including the CSI for the first number of ports.
