    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first device may include reflective elements and may reflect signals between a second and third device using the reflective elements. In some cases, the first device may receive signaling from the second device indicating a first subset of the reflective elements corresponding to a first phase configuration and a second subset of the reflective elements corresponding to a second phase configuration. In some other cases, the first device may receive signaling indicating a transmission beam of the second device. Here, the first device may identify the first and second subsets of the reflective elements based on an angle of arrival and departure associated with the indicated transmission beam. In either case, the first device may set the phase configurations of the reflective elements according to the first and second subsets.

    Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a network entity to consider an identity property for received RS during analog combining or aggregation in order to achieve efficient channel sounding and estimation. The network entity may receive an RS in a time period via a plurality of antenna elements. The network entity may combine, in an analog domain, the RS received via each of the antenna elements based at least in part on weights associated with the antenna elements. At least one weight of the weights changes over the time period, and the weights are elements of a time domain orthogonal cover code or a DFT matrix. As a result of these weights, the network entity may estimate multiple combined or individual channels of antenna elements or groups from one or more RS in one or more symbols, potentially improving UE energy efficiency, efficient resource allocation, and coherency between the antenna elements.

The first device may receive an additional RS from the second device via the plurality of passive devices, where the additional RS is forwarded jointly by all of the plurality of passive devices with a second set of reflection configurations (Slot 506). The first device may determine information from the plurality of passive devices based on the multiple RSs and the additional RS, where the information is represented by a change between the first set of reflection configurations and the second set of reflection configurations.
