Abstract: Haptic support for UI navigation is provided so that in addition to visual cues such as a cursor moving onscreen and audio cues such as sound effects, tactile feedback is provided through haptic generators in an input device such as a computer simulation controller. As the cursor moves right, for example, a haptic generator on the right side of the controller may be activated to generate a tactile sensation on the right side of the controller, and vice versa.

Abstract: A technique to determine an optimum number of reserved bits for use in video encoding. The bits per coding unit is calculated as a function of bitrate, frame rate and frame size. Then for each coding unit, N reserved bits candidates are selected. For each test video the number of packets per frame is identified and the average number of packets per frame is calculated. The best reserved bits candidate out of the N reserved bits candidates is identified, and then a best fitted linear model between best reserved bits candidate and bits per coding unit is determined.

Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for discerning background voices from ambient noise in a video game player's surroundings, isolating the voices using distinct phonemes within the voices, and running the phonemes through a generative artificial intelligence (AI) model to produce synthesized speech in the video game. The synthesized speech can be spoken by players or non-player characters, modified in age, gender, and other attributes of the avatar renderings. The text for the synthesized speech can be for static scripts or alterations based on gameplay. The player can select from different background voices and apply them to in-game characters and elements as desired.

Abstract: A method is disclosed including setting, at a server, a server VSYNC signal to a server VSYNC frequency. The server VSYNC signal corresponding to generation of video frames during frame periods for the server VSYNC frequency. The method including setting, at a client, a client VSYNC signal to a client VSYNC frequency. The method including sending compressed video frames from the server to the client over a network using the server VSYNC signal, wherein the compressed video frames are based on the generated video frames. Abstract: Methods and system for providing assistance to a user during interaction with game content of a video game includes monitoring eye strain indicators of the user as the user is interacting with the game content. Eye strain metrics are computed using the eye strain indicators collected for the user. An action for performing at the video game is identified based on the eye strain metrics. The identified action is forwarded to the video game, which, upon receipt, executes a command to adjust one or more rendering attributes of the game content presented to the user. The adjustment is defined to reduce the eye strain of the user.
