A mining shovel (10) includes a hydraulic system comprising a plurality of fixed displacement pumps (104,106,108,110) driven by a variable speed motor (100), and a tank (68) system comprising an upper return tank and a lower supply tank (70). A cylinder manifold (64) is connected to the pump control manifold (112), and includes a directional control valve for directing the extend and retract functions of the cylinder (50), while accepting fluid flow in a single direction from the pump control manifold. The single direction flow allows for the use of smaller fluid conduits (61), such that the hose providing a high pressure supply can be comparatively smaller than the return hose (67).

The present invention relates in general terms to a process for preparing alkyl methacrylates, comprising as steps: providing an acetone cyanohydrin by a process according to one of the preceding claims; contacting the acetone cyanohydrin with an inorganic acid to obtain a methacrylamide; contacting the methacrylamide with an alcohol in the presence of an inorganic acid in a reactor to obtain an alkyl methacrylate; continuously discharging at least a portion of the alkyl methacrylate from the reactor into a distillation column as a vapor stream; the discharge being effected by feeding a discharge stream comprising steam into the reactor, to an apparatus for preparing alkyl methacrylates, to a process for preparing polymers based at least partly on alkyl methacrylates, to the use of the alkyl methacrylates obtainable by the process according to the invention in chemical products, and to chemical products based on alkyl methacrylates obtainable by the process according to the invention.

A cosmetic composition for bleaching discolored nails containing at least one hydrogen peroxide generator in an amount sufficient to perform bleaching of discolored nails, at least one film forming polymer and at least one cosmetically acceptable volatile solvent. Also disclosed is a method of bleaching discolored nails involving applying onto said nails the cosmetic composition of the present invention.

A sealed hydraulic tank system for a mining shovel (10) includes an upper tank (68) and a lower tank (70). An air bladder (69) system is coupled to the upper tank to exchange air between the tank system and the bladder. The tanks include baffles (100,102,104,106,108) which filter the hydraulic fluid and which direct fluid flow along an elongated path to allow for de-aeration of the oil in the tank.

Use of power line carrier communications which introduces a high frequency analog signal onto a cable used to convey power in a portion of an electric distribution network to send a data communication received at a distant receiver through the use of pick-up coil. Changes in the power level of signals received from a remote power line carrier transmitter may indicate that the pick-up coil receiving the signal is starting to degrade. The aggregation of certain power line carrier conveyed data communications about remote transformers and related equipment may be used to look for problems in this transmitter/receiver communication network. The disclosure includes the aggregation of data communications from one transmitter received at several different power line carrier pick-up coils through the phenomenon of cross talk or through the purposeful provision of data along an alternative communication path.

Methods to test the operation of the pick-up coil without having to de-energize the power line serving as the power line carrier in order to perform testing on the pick-up coil. A series of test frequencies are introduced and parameters of the pick-up coil can be measured to detect the presence or absence of resonant behavior indicative of the health of the pick-up coil. Testing capabilities may be incorporated into a power line carrier receiver and use the connections between the pick-up coils and the receiver to perform the pick-up coil test. Various methods are disclosed for evaluating the pick-up coil response to a series of test inputs of different frequencies. These methods could be incorporated in a pick-up coil testing device that is independent of a receiver.
