    摘要: Methods of intervening to protect a close motor for a network protector unit for a power distribution transformer are discussed. The close motor is protected from damage by intervening to prevent further attempts to energize the close motor after an abnormal condition is detected. The intervention may be cleared after a cooling off period or some other metric. In some implementations, the intervention remains in effect until an operator investigates and then clears the intervention so that the close motor may be energized to close the network protector breaker.

    摘要: Methods to test the operation of the pick-up coil without having to de-energize the power line serving as the power line carrier in order to perform testing on the pick-up coil. A series of test frequencies are introduced and parameters of the pick-up coil can be measured to detect the presence or absence of resonant behavior indicative of the health of the pick-up coil. Testing capabilities may be incorporated into a power line carrier receiver and use the connections between the pick-up coils and the receiver to perform the pick-up coil test. Various methods are disclosed for evaluating the pick-up coil response to a series of test inputs of different frequencies. These methods could be incorporated in a pick-up coil testing device that is independent of a receiver.

It is useful to have information about the electrical parameters for the transformer and the load side of an open network protector and it is useful to have access to electrical parameters for a closed network protector. An alternative to using a secondary data path through second transformer rather than the first transformer is to provide a data bridge around an opening in the primary path.     摘要: Use of power line carrier communications which introduces a high frequency analog signal onto a cable used to convey power in a portion of an electric distribution network to send a data communication received at a distant receiver through the use of pick-up coil. Changes in the power level of signals received from a remote power line carrier transmitter may indicate that the pick-up coil receiving the signal is starting to degrade. The aggregation of certain power line carrier conveyed data communications about remote transformers and related equipment may be used to look for problems in this transmitter/receiver communication network. The disclosure includes the aggregation of data communications from one transmitter received at several different power line carrier pick-up coils through the phenomenon of cross talk or through the purposeful provision of data along an alternative communication path.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for use by a receiver in decoding information sent by phase-shift keying over a carrier frequency is disclosed. The method is well suited for use with power line carrier (PLC) applications as it is adapted to appropriately position the sampling window based on a zero crossing of one of the phases of the power line. The method allows for receipt and processing of information on more than one carrier frequency and from transmitters operating on a phase of the power line that is different than the phase used by the receiver to detect the zero crossings of the alternating current at the power grid frequency on the power line. A number of alternative embodiments are included.

The monitoring device adapted to handle a series of phase angle differences between a monitored current and a monitored voltage and establish a baseline phase angle difference after the network protector closes to connect the monitored transformer to a distribution network. The monitoring device working to establish a baseline phase angle even when a measured value for the magnitude of the monitored current has a reversed polarity from an actual current flowing from the monitored transformer or when the monitored current and the monitored voltage are not taken from the same phase from the monitored transformer. The monitoring device adapted to detect a significant change in phase angle difference from the baseline phase angle difference as an indication of reverse power flow.
