Abstract:
A shoulder mounted lapel microphone housing that encloses a microdisplay, a computer, and other communication system components. A microdisplay element is located on or in the microphone housing. Other electronic circuits, such as a microcomputer, one or more wired and wireless interfaces, associated memory or storage devices, auxiliary device mounts and the like are packaged in the microphone housing and/or in an optional pager sized gateway device having a belt clip. Motion, gesture, and/or audio processing circuits in the system provide a way for the user to input commands to the system without a keyboard or mouse. The system provides connectivity to other computing devices such as cellular phones, smartphones, laptop computers, or the like.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a portable device having a flexible display unit and a control method for the same. The device provides a dimming mode for dimming the display unit when lack of user input for a preset dimming time is sensed. The dimming mode includes a first dimming mode having a first dimming time and a second dimming mode having a second dimming time. The display unit has a first state before the display unit is expanded, and a second state after the display unit is expanded. A processor of the device converts the device from the first dimming mode to the second dimming mode when the display unit is retracted from the second state to the first state, reverts the device into the first dimming mode when preset user input is sensed, and performs dimming of the display unit when lack of the preset user input is sensed.
Abstract:
A display device to change an image displayed in a display area when the display area is changed includes a memory, a location output unit and a screen display unit. The memory stores size information of a display area displayed on a screen and the image data of the displayed image. The location computing unit computes a start point of the changed display area when the display area is changed. The display unit decodes data corresponding to the size of the display area based on the computed new start point from the image data to display the decoded data in the display area. Since the start point is obtained with center point of the changed display area and its size information and then a display area to be displayed is determined based on the start point, a current search location is maintained even when the screen is swung.
Abstract:
An electronic system includes: a control unit configured to: detect a motion applied to a device with a display in a mode; select another mode of the display based on the device motion; and a user interface, coupled to the control unit, configured to apply a screen motion to the another mode of the display.
Abstract:
Described is a technique for viewing a document page on a small display such as a mobile phone or PDA. The page can come from a scanned document (bitmap image) or an electronic document (text and graphics data plus metadata). The page with text and graphics is segmented into regions. For each region, a scale-distortion function is constructed based on image analysis. During interactive viewing of the document, as the user navigates by moving the viewport around the page, the zoom factor will be automatically adjusted by optimizing the scale-distortion functions of the regions in the viewport.
Abstract:
A panel control device includes a programmable array. This programmable array operates in accordance with a configuration code and includes a plurality of first-class elements and at least one second-class element. This provides a panel control device requiring a small circuit area, being suitable for system-on-chip (SoC) mounting, and driving a liquid crystal display device having various specifications also in the future.
Abstract:
A method and system are provided for shortening a name for display. The method may include: determining a size of a display area in which a name is to be displayed; receiving a name string for display and shortening the name string to fit into the display area. Shortening the name string may include: replacing one or more words in the name string with an acronym; and removing or replacing non-distinctive elements in the name string. The method may include receiving two or more name strings to be displayed; and wherein removing or replacing non-distinctive elements in the name string includes: comparing the names and removing or replacing the non-unique elements of the name strings.
Abstract:
Various embodiments are disclosed that relate to serially displaying text on an electronic display using techniques for placement of an optimal recognition position of words at a fixed display location. In some embodiments, an optimal recognition position character is displayed at the fixed display location. In other embodiments, an optimal recognition proportionate position is displayed at the fixed display location. Various related techniques for processing and displaying text are further disclosed herein.
Abstract:
A client apparatus, which requests a service to a server apparatus and receives a result corresponding to the request, comprises: a receiving section for receiving screen data corresponding to the result and a position of a status bar area in the screen data from the server; a display section for performing a display based on the screen data; and a control section for detecting a change of display contents of the screen data based on the position of the status bar area and the screen data, causing the display section to perform the display except for the status bar area based on the screen data when it is not detected that the display content of the status bar area is changed, and causing the display section to display the status bar area when it is detected that the display content of the status bar area is changed.
Abstract:
According to some embodiments, a method and apparatus are provided to receive an application type and a platform environment type. An application based on the received application type and the platform environment type is created. The application comprises an instantiation of the received application type configured for the received environment type.
