    Abstract: A method for transmitting a subchannel availability for an uplink (UL) multi-user (MU) transmission is described. An availability of one or more subchannels of an orthogonal frequency division multiplex (OFDM) channel are determined by a first communication device for the UL MU transmission. A High Throughput (HT) Control field of a media access control (MAC) header that includes an indication of the determined availability of the one or more subchannels is generated by the first communication device. A MAC protocol data unit (MPDU) that includes the HT Control field is generated by the first communication device. The MPDU is transmitted by the first communication device to a second communication device via the OFDM channel for a subsequent allocation of radio resources for the UL MU transmission by the second communication device.

    Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods described herein provide a method for padding a signal extension of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. A transceiver may obtain a plurality of data symbols for transmission, and determine that a number of information bits for a last symbol of the plurality of data symbols is not an integer value. A special padding rule may be applied to add padding bits to the last symbol. A number of coded bits for the last symbol may be determined when the number of information bits for the last symbol has changed, and the plurality of data symbols for data transmission may be encoded based on the determined number of coded bits for the last symbol.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications. A described system includes a first radio configured to wirelessly transmit to a first station in accordance with a first wireless communication technology via uplink periods that are scheduled by the first station; a second radio configured to wirelessly communicate with a second station in accordance with a second wireless communication technology; and a controller coupled with the first and second radios, the controller being configured to select for puncturing one or more of the uplink periods based on information about types of data to be transmitted respectively in the uplink periods, puncture, independently of the first station, the one or more selected uplink periods by causing the first radio to terminate transmissions to the first station during the selected uplink period(s), and cause the second radio to receive data from the second station during the selected uplink period(s).

    Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a method for cross-channel scheduling of high efficiency (HE) multi-user (MU) frame transmission. In some embodiments, channel information and client station information may be obtained for data transmission. An MU frame containing a data field of a first type and two data fields of a second type may be configured to carry scheduling information relating to one or more channels for the data transmission. It may be determined that a current scheduling setting of the two data fields of the second type leads to unbalanced payload between the one or more channels. The two data fields of the second type may then be adjusted for a balanced channel mapping, and the data field of the first type may be adjusted to reflect the balanced channel mapping. Data based on the adjusted data field of the first type and the adjusted two data fields of the second type may be transmitted via the one or more channels.

    Abstract: A method is described. A block allocation that indicates a plurality of contiguous tone blocks of a wireless local area network communication channel is selected for a multi-user, multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) data unit. A contiguous tone block corresponds to a respective device set having at least one communication device. Respective spatial stream allocations are selected, for at least some of the blocks, that indicate a number of spatial streams for the corresponding block of the data unit. The number of streams of a block is equal to a number of communication devices of the device set that corresponds to the block. A first field is encoded and transmitted to indicate the selected block allocation and the selected spatial stream allocations. A second field is encoded and transmitted to indicate a respective device identifier for each communication device of the respective device sets.

    Abstract: A communication device is configured to operate in a first wireless communication network that utilizes a communication protocol developed for use in frequency bands that are licensed by a government entity for wireless communication applications. The communication device determines whether one or more communication channels in an unlicensed frequency band are not being utilized by any second wireless communication networks, wherein the government entity does not require licenses to use the unlicensed frequency band. In response to determining that one or more communication channels in the unlicensed frequency band are not being utilized by any second wireless communication networks, the communication device selects a set of one or more communication channels in the one or more communication channels for use by the first wireless communication network, and utilizes the set of one or more communication channels for communications in the first wireless communication network.

    Abstract: A first communication device receives sounding feedback packets from a plurality of second communication devices in a group of second communication devices for OFDMA communication. Each sounding feedback packet includes beamforming feedback information to be used by the first communication device for beamforming to the corresponding second communication device, and one or more quality indicators corresponding to one or more sub-channel blocks of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication channel associated with the corresponding second communication device. Respective sub-channel blocks are allocated based on the quality indicators, to respective ones of the second communication devices in the group. The first communication device transmits an OFDMA data unit that includes respective OFDM data units directed to respective ones of the second communication devices in the group. The respective OFDM data units are transmitted in the respective sub-channel blocks allocated to the second communication devices in the group.

    Abstract: A first communication device allocates respective frequency sub-channels for subsequent orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) communications with two or more second communication devices, including allocating a first frequency sub-channel, a second frequency sub-channel, and a third frequency sub-channel between the first frequency sub-channel and the second frequency sub-channel. The first communication device generates and transmits a first downlink OFDMA data unit configured to prompt the two or more second communication devices to transmit as part of a multi-user transmission that spans the first frequency sub-channel, the second frequency sub-channel, and the third frequency sub-channel. The first communication device receives an uplink OFDMA transmission and determines that the uplink OFDMA transmission did not include a transmission within the third frequency sub-channel. In response, the first communication device does not transmit within the third frequency sub-channel when transmitting one or more subsequent downlink OFDMA data units via the communication channel.
