摘要: An optoelectronic module includes a housing and a printed circuit board (“PCB”) positioned within the housing. A positioning member is coupled to the PCB and includes one or more receptacles each configured to receive and secure positioning of an optical component relative to the PCB. The positioning member may include a plurality of receptacles positioned relative to one another in an arrangement defining a vertical array of receptacles, a lateral array of receptacles, or both. In one form, an optical component, when positioned in a receptacle of the positioning member, is spaced from the PCB. The positioning member may be formed of a thermally insulative or thermally conductive material, and a number of optical fibers may be routed between the positioning member and the housing.

摘要: A physical vapor transport growth system includes a growth chamber charged with SiC source material and a SiC seed crystal in spaced relation and an envelope that is at least partially gas-permeable disposed in the growth chamber. The envelope separates the growth chamber into a source compartment that includes the SiC source material and a crystallization compartment that includes the SiC seed crystal. The envelope is formed of a material that is reactive to vapor generated during sublimation growth of a SiC single crystal on the SiC seed crystal in the crystallization compartment to produce C-bearing vapor that acts as an additional source of C during the growth of the SiC single crystal on the SiC seed crystal.

摘要: A die for growing a single crystal by an Edge-defined Film-fed Growth (EFG) technique includes a first outer die plate; a second outer die plate; and at least one central die plate positioned between the first outer die plate and the second outer die plate such that at least two capillaries are formed between the first outer die plate and the second outer die plate. First ends of the first outer die plate and the second outer die plate have a slope extending away from at least one of the at least two capillaries to form a growth interface at a top of the die. Second ends of the first outer die plate and the second outer die plate are immersed in a raw material melt provided in a crucible. The raw material melt is configured to travel to the growth interface by capillary flow of the raw material melt through the at least two capillaries.

摘要: A wafer handling fixture is used to transport a finished semiconductor wafer from one post-fabrication procedure to another (e.g., testing, inspection, cleaning, dicing, or shipping) in a manner that maintains the wafer in its “flattened” form and eliminates the possibility for a wafer to later spring back into a bowed form. The wafer handling fixture includes a surface stiction film to which the wafer will naturally adhere, and uses a wafer release mechanism included in a bottom support plate to permit for the “controlled” transfer of the wafer from the handling fixture to testing/inspection equipment.

摘要: A composite extractant-enhanced polymer resin comprising an extractant and a polymer resin for direct extraction of valuable metals such as rare earth metals, and more specifically, scandium, front an acid-leaching slurry and/or acid-leaching solution in which ferric ions are not required to be reduced into ferrous ions. The extractant may be cationic, non-ionic, or anionic. More specifically, the extractant di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid may be used. The polymer resin may be non-functional or have functional groups of sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid, iminodiacetic acid, phosphoric acid, or amines. The composite extractant-enhanced polymer resin may be used for extraction of ran earth metals from acid-leaching slurries or solutions.

摘要: A fabrication sequence for an oxide-confined VCSEL includes the deposition of a protective coating over exposed horizontal surfaces to prevent unwanted oxide layers from being formed during the lateral oxidation process used to create the oxide aperture. By preventing the oxidation of these surfaces in the first instance, the opportunity for moisture to gain access to the active region of the VCSEL is eliminated. For example, exposed Al-containing surfaces are covered with a protective coating of dielectric material prior to initiating the conventional lateral oxidation process used to form the oxide aperture of the VCSEL. With the protective coating in place, a conventional fabrication process is resumed, and the protective coating ultimately forms part of the passivation layer used to provide electrical isolation for the final VCSEL device.
