A method and device for processing broadcast signals are discussed. The method includes receiving the broadcast signals carrying service data, demodulating the broadcast signals by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) scheme, MIMO processing data in the broadcast signals based on a rotation value, where the rotation value has zero (0) degree for a modulation order corresponding to equal to or greater than 64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) and a code rate corresponding to at least one of 2/15, 3/15, 4/15, 5/15, 6/15, 7/15, 8/15, 9/15, 10/15, 11/15, 12/15 or 13/15, and the rotation value has zero (0) degree for a modulation order corresponding to Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) and a code rate corresponding to at least one of 2/15, 3/15, 4/15 or 5/15, and decoding the data.

A method and an apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals thereof are disclosed. The method for transmitting broadcast signals, the method comprises encoding service data, encoding signaling data, MIMO (Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output) precoding the encoded service data, building at least one signal frame including the MIMO precoded service data and the encoded signaling data, modulating data in the built at least one signal frame by an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) scheme and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for receiving/transmitting broadcast signals. One method includes receiving broadcast signals; demodulating the received broadcast signals by an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) scheme, wherein signal frames in the received broadcast signals include physical signaling data and service data; MIMO (Multi Input Multi Output) processing the demodulated broadcast signals based on at least one of a phase-hopping matrix with a phase rotation angle and a rotation matrix with a rotation angle, wherein a value of the rotation angle depends on a modulation order and a code rate of the service data; demapping data in the MIMO processed broadcast signals; and decoding the demapped data based on the code rate, wherein when the modulation order is Non-Uniform Constellation (NUC) 16 Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) and the code rate is one of 2/15, 3/15, 4/15, or 5/15, then the value of the rotation angle is zero degrees.

The method includes, formatting input streams into Data Pipe, DP, data; Low-Density Parity-Check, LDPC, encoding the DP data according to a code rate; bit interleaving the LDPC encoded DP data; mapping the bit interleaved DP data onto constellations according to one of QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), NUQ (Non-Uniform QAM) or NUC (Non-Uniform Constellation); Multi-Input Multi-Output, MIMO, encoding the mapped DP data by using a MIMO encoding matrix having a MIMO encoding parameter; building at least one signal frame by mapping the MIMO encoded DP data; and modulating data in the built signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM, method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.
